⚔️ Gameweek 32 Review - 71 Points (56 Average)

Triple captain played! Another decent week above the average, but it feels slightly underwhelming as our triple captain could have had so much more. 11 points total over two games seems a fair return, but the fact Newcastle scored nine goals and Isak only scored and assisted once was disappointing. The team did well though. Burn and Livramento double up paid off but the Crystal Palace one didn’t so much; it was a tough two fixtures for them to be fair.

Rogers and Salah, both with six pointers, kept me ticking over, but Palmer has played his last match for me for this season. A few blanks elsewhere but Isak is keeping me afloat with the majority of my points this week and triple captain helped too. Another GW where it could have been huge, but the main aim of staying about the weekly average was at least achieved. We are continuing in the right direction.

📋 Gameweek 32 Transfers Recap

Each week so you know @FplVeteran is doing the demanding work for you, we revisit key decisions from last week's review. This GW we revisit my Transfers In. Ticking along nicely with some big hauls, but unlucky not to have been even more. 10 points per player is a decent return though.

The Best 3 Transfers IN for Gameweek 33

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Bukayo Saka – Arsenal (£10.5m, 22%)

What a midweek performance! Though not in FPL, his performance v Real Madrid and most importantly, early(ish) substitution is good for us this GW. Arteta will want to keep Saka wrapped in cotton wool for the semi-final against PSG, but at the same time, he will want him to keep him sharp and on the ball... Pun intended. If you don’t own him this week, you will be worried for his two games against Ipswich and Crystal Palace, both are great for scoring many goals.

Currently at only 20% owned, he is currently a high-performing differential that we can rely on, and some have forgotten this as he has on recently returned from injury. More managers will own him before this GW, but he will still be under-owned so get in early on him. If you have your triple captain chip left, I’m confident of a great return if you give him the chance. Second in my starting eleven next to Salah this week.

🇪🇬 Mohamed Salah – Liverpool (£13.8m, 71.8%)

I know it’s a straightforward decision but there are those that decided to risk it against King Mo. My advice is DON’T. Much has been made about him not scoring an open-play goal in seven matches, but Salah is world-class and can turn it on in an instant. With expensive assets like Cole Palmer, Son and Phil Foden not giving justice to their price tag, I get the correlation to think the same about Salah… But he’s a different class, world-class.

The fact Haaland is out injured gives us much more flexibility with our budget, and we should be able to afford the majority, if not all the players we want. Due to this, ensure you keep Salah for the remainder of the season and if you don’t have him, get him. There are plenty of opportunities to go against the grain and select a differential to try and boost your rank, but using Salah as that makeweight is not the play. First name on my team sheet every GW and the definition of a locked season pick.

🇪🇬 Omar Marmoush – Man City (£7.6m - 30%)

The current most popular transfer in this GW with over 165,000 managers making the move. The second most owned forward has a double game week and great fixtures in terms of scoring goals so its no wonder he is being brought in by the masses. Everton and Aston Villa will be tough fixtures, but they do still concede and right now Marmoush seems to be involved in every goal Man City score.

With KDB back in the swing of it and able to thread the eye of the needle, this will only enhance the potential of Marmoush’s points scoring. The fixtures on the horizon also look great with Wolves and Southampton after blank GW34, so you could bring him in and keep him until the end of the season, saving precious free transfers. The Egyptian prince isn’t quite at the level of the Egyptian king just yet, but this GW may give us all a glimpse of his ability and match him just in the short term. Currently I don’t have him but by the deadline I may do.

The Best 3 Transfers OUT for Gameweek 33

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Cole Palmer - Chelsea (£10.7m, 40%)

Finally, I have had enough of him, and he has to go. Once owned by upwards of 70%, managers seem to agree as now that figure has dropped to just above 40%. The last time he had a return of note was all the way back in GW21, which was a 10-pointer against Bournemouth.

We gave him a stay of execution for far too long, most likely due to our hopes of him repeating his 25-point monster haul against Brighton (GW 6), which just hasn’t materialised. Alongside the lack of returns is the issue of his premium price tag of £ 10.7 M. Cheap players blanking isn’t a problem, but you need your most expensive players to perform every single week. To make matters worse, though they are still in the hunt for a top-four Champions League spot and their midweek European games are going to affect their GW performances, in particular, Cole Palmer.

At one point, Palmer was involved in every single attacking return, but this is now not the case, and we can’t rely on him anymore. Replace him with a DGW player and use the remainder of the money to balance your squad for the season finale, I promise you... You won’t miss much.

🇺🇸 Antonee Robinson – Fulham (£4.9m, 18.4%)

The fairly popular differential pick was never really the best option. His early performances and attacking stats made managers take notice and combined with Fulham’s early form, made the selection more appealing. But now their form has dipped, conceding more goals and stunting Robinson's attacking opportunities. 10 assists in 31 games for a defender is a great return, but if they’re not adding clean sheet points to the score, then the best you can hope for is five points, one less than a basic clean sheet score.

Just five clean sheets all season, even for £4.9m just isn’t going to get you very far and the optimal alternatives are plentiful. I was surprised he was still so highly owned and if you do have him, refresh your squad with some new exciting attacking defenders that can genuinely help your rank. Conor Bradley at Liverpool isn’t a bad switch as Robinson is old news now, get rid.

Generic

🇯🇵 Karou Mitoma – Brighton (£6.4m, 7%)

Rotation, rotation, rotation. Brighton now have an exciting squad but any assets we own from them are just at risk of rotation at any time, not good for planning for the next few GWs. Mitoma was touted as a good option this week but ended up not even playing due to injury. I myself own Minteh and although Brighton scored twice, I didn’t gain any attacking return.

I already want to get rid and think Mitoma owners should as well. There are just too many better options in midfield and with less than ideal upcoming fixtures against Newcastle and Liverpool, it’s easy to make the move. Next season may be better for him but he’s just not an option anymore currently.

Top Tip – Bankers upsets. From now until the end of the season, there will be more upsets than you think. With Champions League and European spots still up for grabs, teams safe from relegation and on the bench, there will be many more different outcomes than you think. Try to navigate these potential upsets and stick to the teams that we can rely on. The positive outcome from this though team is…(and yes you’ve guessed it as I love banging on about it on this space) the opportunities are huge!

🦸 Gameweek 33 Captaincy Selections

🇪🇬 Mohamed Salah - Liverpoool (£13.8m, 71.8%)

In a DGW, I am backing the player with just one match. I know the safe play is with a DGW player, but honestly, I can see Salah outscoring them all this week. Saka’s possible reduced minutes and the fact Man City spread the goals around leaves me with less confidence they can both score their maximum this week. Mo Salah plays a Leicester side that are currently the worst side in the league, conceding 16 goals in the last six games at home, with no reply.

Liverpool have scored at least three goals in their last four games v Leicester and with Salah committing his future to Liverpool with a new contract, I expect him to score a high double-digit score. For some reason, I’m getting hat-trick vibes, fingers crossed.

Alternative Captain Options

There are plenty of Double game week options with Saka against Ipswich/Crystal Palace and Marmoush v Everton/Aston Villa. I have placed Saka the second-best option as I always side with midfielders for the armband, with more potential upside. If you want to go risky, choose Saka, but if you are playing it safe, the selection is Marmoush. Extreme selections include Luis Diaz against Leicester, Rashford or Kevin De Bruyne who both have DGW’s.

Top three for me this GW are: Salah, Saka, and Marmoush.

👁️ FPL Veteran's Vision and Verdict

Minor surgery required. I have a balance between this DGW and next week’s blank GW, in order to save my Free Hit chip for use in GW36 or 38. But with 2 FT’s I need to cover myself and bring in a highly owned player to cover myself in the form of Marmoush. In midfield Palmer will make way for a differential player to boost my rank, yet to be decided but looking at a few spicy picks that not many will think of. I called Barnes this GW but didn’t make the move, so I have some self-redemption to catch up on. Happy with my team moving forward and I have already begun to set up for Bench Boost use, whenever the optimal play is. Fortune favours the brave..at least most of the time!
