Introduction
Having already led France to a World Cup medal, Didier Deschamps will be looking to add a Euros title to the cabinet at his third attempt as the French manager.
Having crashed out of the Euros in the round of 16 in 2016, the trophy narrowly evaded France in 2020 in a memorable game against Portugal which saw Eder score the vital goal in extra-time.
Following a similarly painful experience at World Cup 2022, France will have no time to dwell on past mistakes, and will look to hit the ground running.

Tournament Prediction: Winners
You can back France to win Euro 2024 @ 5.0 on Sky Bet.
Behind England, France come in as favourites to win Euro 2024. The French appear to be in the peak of a golden generation, with multiple world-class players in every position.
They were desperately unfortunate not to secure back-to-back World Cup titles, denied only via penalty shootout at the hands of Argentina.
Such an excruciating defeat should only work to galvanise the squad, and make them more determined to secure honours this time around.
France Euro 2024 Qualifying Data
📖 How they qualified
It came as no surprise to anyone that France topped their qualifying group. What’s impressive, though, is the nature in which they managed to do so.
Despite being in a group with Netherlands, Greece, Ireland and Gibraltar, the French managed an undefeated record – seven wins and one draw.
The eighth and final group game against Greece tarnished what would have been a perfect record, but the Greeks stood firm in Athens, and played out a 2-2 draw. Prior to that game, France had conceded just a single goal in seven games, and scored 27.
Although 27 goals in seven games on the surface seems incredibly impressive, adding some context, 14 goals came in the home fixture against Gibraltar.
👕 Players to watch
The only game France failed to win in the qualifiers, was the only game Kylian Mbappe didn’t start. The PSG forward was (unsurprisingly) the top scorer for France, netting nine times – averaging 1.23 goals per 90 minutes. He was also involved as a creator, racking up five assists. Mbappe managed a goal involvement every 46 minutes in the qualifiers – once again Didier Deschamps will lean on his talisman to carry him through the Euros.
Having announced his departure from PSG at the end of the season, there may be doubts around his domestic future. However, Mbappe has constantly impressed on the international stage, and is undoubtedly one to watch in this tournament. With an abundance of talent at the disposal of Deshamps, Mbappe is perhaps one of the only certain names in the starting XI. At the World Cup in 2022, Mbappe scored 8 goals – matching the goal tally of the rest of the France team combined.
Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchoumeni seem most likely to start as the holding midfielders, and will be critical for sustaining possession for France and creating chances for forward players. The Real Madrid duo made the most passes to the final third and most progressive passes for France in the qualifying rounds. Camavinga was particularly useful for Deschamps, having made the most key passes per 90 for France (2.03) and the second-most slide tackles (1.45).
PSG winger Ousmane Dembele looks set to accompany Mbappe at the top of the pitch, with Kingsley Coman set to miss the Euros through injury. Dembele has blown hot and cold this season, although has put on some clinical displays, particularly in the Champions League against Barcelona. He scored in both legs against his former employers, and looked in peak form. Although, that good form seemed to immediately dissipate in the proceeding tie against Dortmund.
