Iceland are actually the top scorers in this qualifying group which is surprising seeing as France are in it, but this scoring power has been counterbalanced by the nine goals they’ve conceded in qualifying so far which is the second most in the group, behind Azerbaijan.

All four of Iceland’s matches in qualifying have produced 3+ goals with their four matches producing 20 goals (5.0 per game). In the most recent international break, Iceland drew 2-2 with France and fell to a 5-3 defeat against Ukraine, so we can expect them to be involved in another goal heavy affair here.

Iceland fired five goals past Azerbaijan when the sides met earlier in the qualifying process. They registered an xG of 2.69 from 14 shots while Azerbaijan were limited to just two shots. 

This may suggest that Iceland will cover this line on their own here, but I’d still keep an eye on Azerbaijan to cause some issues and possibly contribute to the goal count seeing as they held Ukraine to a 1-1 draw at home which remains the only point they’ve earned in qualifying so far. 

This group is very open, Portugal lead the way on 10 points but Hungary, Ireland and Armenia are separated by just two points after four games of qualifying - each of these nations has only managed to win once in qualifying so far with Hungary’s matches in particular offering real promise when it comes to goals.

Hungary have seen 15 goals across their four qualifying matches so far this term (8 scored, 7 conceded - 3.75 per game). They will see themselves as favourites to finish second in this group with Ireland and Armenia far less convincing in their matches so far, but any of the nations could qualify from this position.

These sides have an opportunity to open up a bit of a gap between themselves and Ireland who play Portugal in this gameweek, offering a real chance for Hungary in particular to get closer to Portugal in this group. Hungary have seen 3+ goals in three of their four qualifying matches so far, while Armenia have seen it in two of their four matches in the qualifying campaign.

This is quite generously priced and worth exploring as a single when considering England’s dominant record in qualifying, as well as the most recent meeting between the sides which saw England come away 5-0 winners in Belgrade.

England have netted 18 goals across their six qualifying matches so far this term (3.0 per game) with 3+ goals landing in three of these games. It’s worth noting that England are yet to concede a goal in qualifying, which may affect the chances of a high goal tally here - but the strength that England have shown in the attacking third in recent weeks gives them a really strong chance of covering this line on their own here.

This is also a must win game for Serbia as Albania are currently one point ahead of them in the clash to finish runners up to England, which would keep either nations’ hope of being at the World Cup next summer alive. This could see England concede their first goal of the qualifying campaign as Serbia are the closest side to England on paper.
