Hugo Ekitike added two goals to his tally for the season against Leeds at the weekend, taking his total for the season to eight goals across all competitions. No Liverpool player has scored more goals than Ekitike so far this season, and he’s one of the only summer signings that has slotted straight into the Liverpool side without many complications.

Only one of Ekitike’s goals has come in the Champions League this term, but his shot record in the competition is very promising. He’s had 15 shots across his five appearances in the Champions League (4.30 per 90) with these efforts returning an expected goal tally of 2.97, suggesting that Ekitike could have a few more goals to his name in the Champions League.

Ekitike has had 2+ shots in all five of his appearances in the Champions League this season, managing 3+ shots in four of these appearances. His brace at the weekend should give him some personal confidence, even though Liverpool didn’t manage to see out the victory at Elland Road.

Inter Milan haven’t really been tested at home so far in the Champions League this term with their opponents in Italy so far being Slavia Prague and Kairat Almaty. They did concede higher shot totals in their away matches against Union Saint Gilloise and Atletico Madrid (15) which suggests that Liverpool can cause them problems with the attacking players they have.

Liverpool have had 98 shots across their five matches in the Champions League this season (19.6 per game) so this part of their approach is working pretty well - it’s the defensive side of the game which needs some work for the Reds, as well as their ability to manage games as their collapse against Leeds at the weekend displayed pretty clearly. Liverpool have had 16+ shots in all five of their matches in the Champions League this season, including hitting tallies of 16 and 18 against Galatasaray and Frankfurt in their away matches.

There is clear value with this selection when backing with Bet365, the same pick is priced as low as 1.17 with other major bookmakers.
