Saturday's Spanish La Liga Accumulator Tips

Fixtures for: Saturday 24th May

Espanyol v Las Palmas

La Liga

17:30

Espanyol to Win

Just a few weeks ago, Espanyol appeared to be comfortably safe, sitting 13th in the table with little threat of relegation. However, a dreadful run of form in May has seen their situation dramatically change. Five straight defeats have plunged them down to 17th, just two points above the drop zone heading into the final day. Fortunately for them, Espanyol still hold the upper hand, with a superior goal difference over 18th-place Leganes, meaning a draw at home should be enough to secure safety.

Their final-day opponents, Las Palmas, are in no better shape, also coming into the clash on a five-game losing streak. Unlike Espanyol though, Las Palmas have already had their relegation confirmed and will likely be lacking motivation. Backed by a home crowd and with everything still to play for, Espanyol will be determined to avoid a disastrous end to their campaign.

Leganes v Real Valladolid

La Liga

17:30

Leganes Over 1.5 Goals

Leganes head into the final day of the season with their top-flight status hanging by a thread. Sitting two points behind relegation-rivals Espanyol, their only hope of survival is a win - and even that may not be enough. Leganes must win and hope an already-relegated Las Palmas side can pull off a win against Espanyol. If Espanyol earn even a draw, Leganes’ fate is pretty much sealed, due to a seven-goal deficit in goal difference. However, their opponents on the final day have been the worst side in the league defensively, which may provide a glimmer of hope.

Valladolid have conceded a league-high 87 goals this season. Their defensive woes have been even more pronounced away from home, with 55 goals conceded from 18 matches, making them an ideal final-day opponent. Leganes must approach this as if they have nothing to lose, expect an extremely attacking mindset at the Butarque Stadium.

Alaves v Osasuna

La Liga

20:00

Over 1.5 Goals

Alaves enter the final matchday with little at stake, comfortably sitting in 14th place, safe from relegation but well out of reach of European qualification. With no pressure on their shoulders, they may approach the game with a sense of freedom, aiming to entertain their home fans one last time this season.

Osasuna, on the other hand, are in a very different situation. Sitting 9th, level on points with Rayo Vallecano and just one behind Celta Vigo in the Europa League spot, they have everything to play for. Only a win will keep their hopes of European football alive, and recent form suggests they’ll be confident in doing so, coming off back-to-back victories.

Expect an aggressive and front-foot performance from the visitors, who know that anything short of three points will not be enough. With Alaves likely to play openly as well, this sets up an exciting final-day clash with plenty of attacking intent on both sides.

Getafe v Celta Vigo

La Liga

20:00

Both Teams to Score

While the Champions League is no longer within reach, Celta Vigo still have plenty to play for on the final day as they aim to secure a Europa League spot for next season. With Rayo Vallecano and Osasuna also in the hunt, every point is crucial in what promises to be a dramatic finish in the Spanish top-flight.

Celta will travel to face a Getafe side that sit comfortably in mid table. With complacency seemingly setting in, Getafe’s form has been inconsistent -  although they recently secured a solid 2-1 win over Mallorca, showing they are still competitive.

Celta are averaging 3.05 goals per game this season - the 4th-highest in the league. In fact, they have seen both teams to score in 13 of their 18 road fixtures this season. The Sky Blues will have to be front-footed at the Coliseum Stadium, which could benefit Getafe on the break.

Rayo Vallecano v Mallorca

La Liga

20:00

Over 1.5 Goals

Rayo Vallecano enter the final weekend of the season in a rich vein of form, having picked up 10 points from their last four matches. That surge has propelled them to 8th in the table, just one point behind Celta Vigo. However, Vallecano trail by five on goal difference, meaning only a win will give them a shot at overtaking the Sky Blues. With so much on the line, Vallecano are likely to adopt an aggressive, front-footed style as they look to finish the season on a high.

Their opponents, Mallorca, have little to play for. Not too long ago they were firmly placed in the top eight, with a European finish looking very likely, but a poor run of form has seen them slide down the table. With motivation on Vallecano’s side and Mallorca having nothing to play for, expect a high-energy display from the hosts in a must-win encounter.
