Derby County v Accrington Stanley
Derby County are a team that I have been looking to side with in the last couple of months, and that may continue to be the case when we emerge from the January transfer window.
However, the issue has been that they have been highly rated by the market all season, despite still sitting outside of the play-off places. Paul Warne has instilled a healthier underlying process, and they are growing stronger by the week as his methods become deeper ingrained in the squad.
The Rams are unbeaten in nine in the league, their last defeat being at Ipswich Town, and have conceded just once in their last five matches. Lowly Accrington Stanley are the visitors to Pride Park, having won just one of their last 11 under John Coleman.
Warne has a full squad available to him in preparing for Stanley’s visit, with Accy not scoring more than one goal in any of their last eight in the league.
The price will likely shorten ahead of kick-off, but I am happy to take Derby in the build-up to the fixture at 1.62, a price that has been inflated due to their schedule disadvantage.
