Malmö have been hugely inconsistent, being big title favourites going into the season but only winning five of their 10 matches so far. They, however, remain within touching distance of leaders Mjällby, placed in 5th with five points to the top of the table. 

AIK, meanwhile, have started the season very well, remaining unbeaten after 10 matches, winning six and drawing the other four. They sit in 3rd, one point off the top, and have been incredibly solid.

Malmö are large favourites at home at 1.67, the draw priced at 2.88 and an AIK win is at 4.5.

While both teams are averaging 2.5 total goals per game, the odds for this line are set at 2.0 for the over and 1.80 for the under.

⭐ Malmö v AIK Predictions and Best Bets

AIK have been involved in a couple of high-scoring affairs, but for the most part, their matches have been tightly contested, especially against the big teams. They have seen over 2.5 goals in 40% of their matches, with Malmö at 50%. As such, under 2.5 at 1.80 looks a good bet, with AIK going away to limit chances.

Malmö have slowly been picking up form-wise recently, winning two of their last three. They have, however, had an easy run of games recently and have struggled against the better sides. We can envisage a close game where AIK close down spaces, press well and counter effectively. They could spring a surprise, and the odds for AIK with a +2 Handicap at 1.3 are too good to pass up.

🔵 Malmö Can't Replicate Last Season's Dominance

Malmö have clearly been below their usual standards this year, failing to put teams under the cosh and not putting their chances away in important moments. Last season they averaged 2.23 goals for per game compared to 1.60 to date in 2025. 

They have been too open defensively, conceding 13.4 xG but only letting in nine goals, preventing goals at an unsustainable rate, yet still letting in too many.

The form has been erratic as a result, failing to win against smaller teams such as Värnamo (16th), Sirius (14th) and Brommapojkarna (12th), as well as Hammarby (4th) and AIK (3rd). In the last five matches they have, however, collected 10 points, slowly but surely improving, although the opponents have not been of the highest calibre.

🟡 AIK Unexpected Challengers

Ahead of the Allsvenskan season, AIK didn’t look to have the squad required to put together any sort of title challenge. They have, however, been at or around the top of the table since the league kicked off, now one point behind leaders Mjällby after a derby draw with Hammarby at the weekend (0-0).

They have only won two of their last five, drawing the other three, picking up nine points in the process. 

The key to success has been limiting opponents to 0.95 xG per game, the 2nd-lowest xG conceded in the division. Going forward they have been clinical, scoring 16 goals from 12.8 xG.

Their away form has been impressive, winning three and drawing two. 

Left wing back Dino Besirovic is suspended, weakening the defence marginally, but likely replacement Jere Uronen is a more than adequate deputy.

When these two met just over a month ago, both teams remained scoreless, with AIK creating the best chances (1.46–0.43 xG) despite only having 34% possession. 

In fact, three of the last four head-to-heads have finished 0-0, with the only exception being a 5-0 Malmö victory in April 2024.
