Livingston v Ross County

🗓️

Kick Off: Thursday 22nd May at 20:00

🏆

Competition: Scottish Championship Play-Offs

  • Livingston defeated Ross County 3-2 via extra time in a Scottish Cup tie earlier this season.

  • Livingston have lost just one of their last five matches against Ross County.

  • If they start, consider both Robbie Muirhead and Ronan Hale as anytime goalscorer picks - both players scored in this season’s Scottish Cup tie between the two teams.

Livingston and Ross County will contest the first leg of their Scottish Premiership play-off final on Thursday night.

Scottish Championship runners-up Livingston powered past Partick Thistle at the semi-final stage thanks to a comfortable 4-0 aggregate victory.

As for Ross County, they were consigned to an 11th-place finish in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday after drawing 1-1 with Motherwell.

Despite being the second-tier side, Livingston go into Thursday night’s first leg as 2.4 favourites. Meanwhile, the Over/Under 2.5 goal line suggests goals could be in short supply, with unders heavily favoured at 1.67.

A run of two draws and seven defeats from their final nine league games of the season will have left confidence low in the Ross County camp, and Livingston look well placed to take advantage. The Lions have won six of their last seven matches, including three of their previous four home games. Thus, Livingston appeal as a Draw No Bet selection at 1.67, while the Double Chance option could also be worth siding with at 1.33.

As for choosing between Over 2.5 Goals or Under 2.5 Goals, a low-scoring first leg could be in the offing.

Livingston Look to Continue Building Momentum

Livingston are in fine fettle as they look to secure promotion back to the Scottish Premiership at the first time of asking. The Lions have lost just three of their last 23 matches across all competitions, taking top honours from an eye-catching 16 of those encounters.

Their success this term has been built on a solid foundation, conceding just 27 goals across their 36 Scottish Championship assignments this season. What’s more, Livingston posted a pair of clean sheets in each of their two play-off semi-final victories over Partick Thistle, restricting their opponents to just three on-target efforts over both legs.

🔵 Ross County on Another Rescue Mission

Ross County’s form has nosedived over recent months, with their last win coming way back in early March against Kilmarnock. Since then, the Staggies lost seven games in succession before ending the campaign with a couple of 1-1 draws. Don Cowie’s side have failed to keep a clean sheet over their last nine games, conceding multiple goals in five of those contests.

On a more positive note, County do have course and distance form in their locker when it comes to preserving their top-flight status, having successfully navigated the Scottish Championship play-off final in each of the previous two seasons.

📊 Livingston v Ross County Head-to-Head Key Stats

Having already defeated Ross County 3-2 after extra time in this season’s Scottish Cup, Livingston could hold the psychological edge coming into this week’s play-off final first leg. Livingston won the shot count 12-9 during this season’s previous meeting in Dingwall, with six of the Lions’ 12 efforts hitting the target.

Livingston can also draw confidence from the fact that they came away empty-handed from just one of their four clashes with Ross County in the Scottish Premiership last season, including a 2-0 home success towards the tail end of the campaign.
