Sky blue ribbons are set to hang from the Premier League trophy for a record-breaking fourth successive season, as a win for Manchester City over West Ham on the final day of the campaign would mark another historic day for Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering Cityzens.
A nervy 2-0 triumph at Tottenham on Thursday evening pushed City to the cusp of glory, though few observers expect West Ham to provide similarly stiff opposition on what is expected to be a procession at the Etihad.
Sunday’s clash will be a poignant day for West Ham for different reasons. David Moyes will end his five-year stint in charge of the Irons with one last foray in Manchester.

⚔️ Man City v West Ham Head-to-Head
Manchester City travelled to Stratford to take on West Ham in what was their third Premier League away fixture of the 2023/24 campaign on September 16th and the champions recovered from an early setback to beat their hosts 3-1 at the London Stadium.
Summer signing James Ward-Prowse gave West Ham a surprise lead in the 36th minute of that contest before efforts from Jeremy Doku, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland sparked a City revival after the interval.
Pep Guardiola’s side racked up a staggering 29 shots to West Ham’s six and an xGF of 3.60 to the Irons’ 0.9 in what ultimately turned into a one-sided romp in the capital, and most of the teams’ recent meetings have followed a similar pattern.
Manchester City have won 13 of their last 15 Premier League meetings with West Ham since January 2016, while the Hammers haven’t enjoyed a win in the sky blue half of Manchester since goals from Victor Moses and Diafra Sakho earned them the three points in September 2015.
Norwegian goal-getter Erling Haaland has been a major thorn in West Ham’s side since the striker’s arrival from Borussia Dortmund and the 23-year-old has scored four times in three previous appearances against the Londoners.
When City roared to a 3-1 comeback victory over West Ham in September, they clocked an impressive 13 shots on target, indeed, they’ve racked up more accurate attempts in a single sitting just once in the Premier League this season (15 v Brentford, Feb 5th).
Man City also earned 11 corners to West Ham’s four in their success in September and that was the fifth Premier League meeting in a row between the clubs where the Mancunians won the corner battle. The aggregate corner count from those encounters was 38-16 in City’s favour.
📊 Man City Form and Stats
Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Tottenham in midweek was their eighth Premier League win on the spin and their 17th win in 20 top-flight fixtures overall since Christmas Day.
The Cityzens have had to be almost note-perfect to see off a challenge from a remarkably consistent Arsenal outfit, though, for the second year running, it looks as though Guardiola will pip his protégé Mikel Arteta to the top spot.
Just a few weeks ago, City had trailed Arsenal in the table and in the goalscoring stakes, though a flurry of 30 goals in their last eight Premier League matches has allowed the Cityzens to take the lead in both departments.
City have rattled the net four or more times in six of their last eight league assignments, conceding just five goals along the way at the other end and their stranglehold on the domestic game has never looked tighter.
Golden Boot shoe-in Erling Haaland has fully recovered from some patchy mid-season form by his own standards and while he struggled to make an impact in the Champions League semi-finals, his finishing in the Premier League has been razor-sharp.
Haaland has scored nine times in his last six run-outs in the division alone and while he won’t come close to matching last season’s haul (36), he has still been running at an average of around a goal per game in 2023/24.
While City seem virtually certain of finishing at the summit of the table again, they look like ranking second in a slew of other metrics including xGF (78.6), xGA (35.2), goals against (32), total shots (655) and shots on target against (104), though they will be on top where it matters most if they beat West Ham.
📊 West Ham Form and Stats
The winds of change are about to blow through the corridors at West Ham with David Moyes set to be replaced by Spanish tactician Julen Lopetegui after the Hammers complete their final Premier League test of the season at Manchester City.
It’s a testament to the fine job Moyes has done with the Hammers that their 9th place finish this term was seen as something of a disappointment by the club’s decision-makers and even if West Ham do finish on 52 points, that will still be a massive 12-point jump from last year’s haul.
West Ham have been collecting 1.40 points per game in the league this season, though nine of their 13 defeats in the division have been suffered on the road and the Irons were toppled in three of their last four away assignments ahead of Sunday’s trip.
The Londoners conceded four or more goals in each of those defeats at Newcastle (4-3), Crystal Palace (5-2) and Chelsea (5-0) respectively, while a return of just two wins from their last 11 games in all competitions has made for a gloomy finish overall.
West Ham’s 3-1 win over Luton in their last home fixture of the campaign earned them just a second Premier League victory in ten attempts and much of the team’s issues have been rooted in defence.
Ahead of Sunday’s showdown with City, West Ham hold the league’s fourth-worst defensive record (71) and only the bottom three clubs (Sheffield United, Burnley and Luton) have conceded more.
West Ham have been picking up just 2.10 cards per game this term, though three players, Lucas Paqueta, Emerson and Edson Alvarez, have collected ten yellow cards each.
While West Ham’s campaign has been shrouded in disappointment overall, Jarrod Bowen has had a career-high year from an individual perspective, netting 20 times and providing ten assists in all competitions.
The emergence of Mohammed Kudus – who notched his 13th Premier League goal contribution in last weekend’s win over Luton – as a force in the final third has also been a major plus, and the Ghanaian, alongside Bowen, will be determined to threaten City on the counter-attack on Sunday.
💰 Man City v West Ham Best Bets
City have been tipped to blitz West Ham to seal another Premier League title-winning campaign and the bookies have priced most markets accordingly with the champions-elect as short as 1.08 to win and over 2.5 goals at a similarly skinny 1.22.
However, with West Ham shipping ten goals in their last two away matches and City’s massive incentives to win chucked in, it could be worth City to score over 2.5 goals instead at 1.30 on Paddy Power.
City put three goals past West Ham in the reverse fixture between the clubs in September and the title favourites have rattled the net at least four times in six of their last eight Premier League contests ahead of Sunday’s finale.
Elsewhere, Erling Haaland looks like an easy pick at the same price. Back him as an anytime goalscorer at 1.30 with Paddy. The Norwegian, who has a good recent record against West Ham (four goals in three appearances) has been finishing the season in fine fettle and the 23-year-old bagged a crucial brace against Tottenham in midweek.
One of those efforts was from the spot and City have been awarded a penalty in each of their last three league fixtures. As the team’s designated man in those scenarios, Haaland’s chances of notching on Sunday again are only heightened.
