Taunton Town v Dulwich Hamlet
Taunton head into this midweek fixture with two wins on the bounce for the first time since August (within the League). These wins came against 3rd place Havant & Waterlooville and 9th place Eastbourne – they’ll head into this one against 17th place Dulwich with a ton of momentum. These sides are level on points this season, although Taunton are in much better form. Ross Stearn bagged a brace in their last game and will be looking to continue his form which he seemed to have gained for the first time this season. Nick Grimes has also been commanding his back line, finding himself in the National League South team of the week.
Dulwich, as opposed to Taunton, have lost their last 4 games – conceding a total of 12 goals within them. Their most recent loss came against 22nd place Weymouth which gave them only their 3rd home win this season. With both teams on level points and Taunton on considerably better form, I expect Taunton to take this one. Especially when you consider the home advantage, they have only lost 1 game this season.
However, I believe draw no bet is the safer bet here. Whilst only losing one home game, they have won 5 and drawn 4. The threat of Dulwich striker Danny Mills also can not be underestimated – scoring 9 goals this season.
Weymouth v Concord Rangers
Weymouth go into this one on a burst of form, giving them hope of surviving relegation this season. Ahkeem Rose has scored 3 goals in his last two games and is proving himself to be a threat already. A win here could allow them to escape the drop (dependent on other results.) They’ll have the momentum from the last two games and know the importance of this one. Concord are 23rd in the league meaning if they do want to survive relegation, games like this are vital. You can expect the Weymouth crowd to get behind them on this one, especially with how attractive the last two home wins were.
Concord haven’t won a game of football since the 3rd December, although you must consider the rate of postponed games between them. Although even then, 6 games without a win will severely deplete any momentum they may have had. Going away to a Weymouth side that are on a winning run on a Tuesday evening will not be easy. There’s a claim that they’ve been unlucky in previous fixtures, such as their game at the weekend where they lost to a 90th minute penalty – although scoring goals to see out games is clearly an issue. I expect Weymouth to capitalise on this.
