• Värnamo are bottom of the league but have seen a turnaround of form, winning their first game of the season last weekend

Norrköping are back in the bottom half of the table this season after finishing only three points above the relegation playoff spot last year. They have won only three games all year, sitting in 12th and not winning in their last five, picking up a meagre two points in the process.

Värnamo have had an even tougher time, only winning their first game of the season last weekend at the 15th time of trying. They remain rock bottom on seven points, six points adrift from safety. 

The bookies expect a relatively close encounter, Norrköping being slight favourites at evens with Värnamo giving 2.8 in odds and the draw priced at 3.0. 

Goals are expected, too, with the over 2.5 goals line sitting at 1.6 while the under provides a healthy 2.2 in odds.

⚪ Norrköping’s Continued Woes

IFK Norrköping are in a rotten run of form, seeing them drop down the league table as a result. After starting off relatively strongly, winning three of their first six, they have since only won a single game in their last nine Allsvenskan encounters. Last weekend Malmö FF put them to the sword and beat them 3-1, being more efficient in taking their chances, with the shot count even (14-14) and the xG total close (2.36 – 2.23 in Malmö’s favour).

Norrköping have the enduring goalscoring outlet of Totte Nyman, on eight goals for the season, but have struggled to find goals from elsewhere, with the form of Sigurgeirsson dropping off, not providing a goal or assist in the last five. They have only kept one clean sheet per season and need to increase their attacking output while making less mistakes in build-up to turn things around.

🔴 Värnamo Have Won a Game!

After a hugely testing start of the season, having not replaced their departing stars adequately, Värnamo have finally managed to win a game. It was a strong performance against the below-par Djurgården, keeping their opponents at bay for much of the game, absorbing pressure then hitting them with a sucker punch right at the end, with substitute Alsalkhadi bagging the winner in the 94th minute.

It was a long-awaited victory after some positive displays, having now only lost two of the last five and conceding only four goals in that run of games. More impressive is the fact that they were up against the likes of Mjällby (1st), Hammarby (2nd) and Elfsborg (4th). Their last three matches have contained only two goals combined, giving away little space in their own third and looking dangerous on the counter.

📊 Norrköping v Värnamo H2H

When these two sides last met in April, five games into the season, Värnamo had not yet picked up a point, while Norrköping were inconsistent but potent offensively. It ended in a 3-1 win for Norrköping, piling on the misery for the strugglers, but the situation is quite different now considering the teams’ recent form.

In general we tend to see high-scoring encounters between the two, with three goals in three of the last five (the other two containing four goals). With Värnamo likely looking to restrict Norrköping in this game, however, we can expect a slightly different story.
