In the second leg of the Champions League play-off round, Club Brugge will come up against Rangers at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Wednesday - Brugge are 3-1 from the initial match at Ibrox.

My Bet Builder from the 1st leg won at odds of 3.82 last weekend, the focus now turns to keeping the run going with this week’s selections.

Club Brugge to Win

While Club Brugge don’t necessarily have to win on Wednesday night, given that they are 3-1 up on aggregate, I don’t think they will rest on their laurels.

Nick Hayen’s side returned home with a 1-0 lead in the previous round against RB Salzburg, but then found themselves 2-0 down at half-time before staging a second-half comeback to win 3-2. The Club Brugge boss will be keen to avoid a similar type of second leg here, and based on what we saw at Ibrox last week, I would expect his side to outclass Rangers for the second week in succession.

It’s also worth noting that the Blue-Black have won each of their opening three home games of the season, not to mention they defeated the likes of Aston Villa, Sporting Lisbon and Atalanta in front of their own supporters last term.

Rangers have yet to win away from home this season across all competitions, and it’s difficult to envisage that changing at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Wednesday night.

Both Teams to Score

BTTS Yes has been a recurring theme in Rangers’ matches this season, and I think there is plenty of scope for that to continue on Wednesday night, especially given the state of play in this tie.

Both teams got on the scoresheet in the Light Blues’ away games at both Panathinaikos and Viktoria Plzen in the previous rounds, and that has also been a regular occurrence on the domestic scene. In fact, there have been goals at both ends in each of Rangers’ four domestic matches this season, two of which have been away from Ibrox.

While Club Brugge look the superior outfit, they showed last week that they are not bulletproof at the back. What’s more, the Blue-Black conceded two goals during the home leg of their 3rd round qualifier with RB Salzburg, while both teams have netted in two of the hosts’ opening four Belgian Pro League matches.

Over 3.5 Rangers Corners

Given that the onus will be on Rangers to attack on Wednesday night, I think the visitors are worthy of support to earn a minimum of four corners. Russell Martin’s men racked up a sizeable nine corners during last week’s first leg at Ibrox, not to mention they hit five flag-kicks away from home in their second round qualifier with Panathinaikos.

The Light Blues have also been pretty prolific on the corner front domestically this season, posting 12, seven and six corners across their opening three Scottish Premiership matches of the season.

While Club Brugge have enjoyed a strong start to their season, they have been giving up plenty of corners - as we saw in Glasgow last week. What’s more, both Cercle Brugge and Genk have covered the 4+ corners line on their respective visits to this venue in this season’s Belgian Pro League, further suggesting that Rangers can follow suit.

Over 2.5 Rangers Cards

Russell Martin’s side have been prone to errors throughout the opening weeks of the season, and that can be attributed to them picking up more cards than we have become accustomed to. That was certainly the case at Ibrox last week, with Rangers clocking up three cards to Club Brugge’s one. Martin's side also picked up three cards against St Mirren at the weekend, from just eight fouls in total.

They'll face a stern test here, and given they need to chase the tie being a couple of goals down (the first leg finished 1-3), this looks a good spot to back Rangers to pick up a few cards again.

Furthermore, Rangers were shown more cards than their opponents in each of their opening two Scottish Premiership matches of the season with Motherwell and Dundee, receiving a straight red card in the second of those two tussles. They've made a habit of picking up cards so far this season.

Christos Tzolis to Score Anytime

Christos Tzolis looked like a classy operator during last week’s first leg at Ibrox, setting up two of his team’s three goals. While the Greece international didn’t manage to get himself on the scoresheet last Tuesday night,  he has netted three goals across his eight appearances in all competitions this season, making the net bulge in two of his last three outings in the Belgian Pro League.

Therefore, I think Tzolis offers a touch of value to strike in this week’s return match against a Rangers side that look extremely fragile and low in confidence.

Russell Martin’s men have failed to keep a clean sheet in seven of their last eight matches across all competitions, including each of their four games away from Ibrox. Given the dynamics of the tie, the Scottish heavyweights will have to throw caution to the wind here, which should really open things up, something the aforementioned Tzolis can capitalise on.

Nicolas Raskin to be Shown a Card

Back in his homeland for this week’s second leg, I think Nicolas Raskin is the one to watch from a cards perspective in this game. The all-action Rangers midfielder’s love of a strong tackle has often landed him in trouble with referees.

In fact, Raskin has already collected three yellow cards across his eight appearances in all competitions this season, two of which came in each of the previous two rounds of Champions League qualifiers against both Panathinaikos and Viktoria Plzen respectively. It’s also worth noting that Raskin committed two or more fouls in each of Rangers’ previous two Champions League qualifiers away from home.

The Belgian international received his first domestic booking of the season on Sunday after committing a cynical foul during the first-half of Rangers' 1-1 draw away at St Mirren.

John Souttar to be Shown a Card

I suggested backing John Souttar to pick up a booking against St Mirren on Sunday and he duly obliged. The Rangers defender - like many of his team-mates - looks uneasy with the high defensive line as well as the possession-based style of play that manager Russell Martin is trying to implement.

That was evident during last week’s first leg at Ibrox, with Souttar one of three Rangers players to have been shown a yellow card. The Scotland international also had his name taken during the home leg of Rangers’ second round qualifier with Panathinaikos.

Given that Rangers will have to try and force the issue in Belgium, I suspect Souttar could be left a little exposed, making him a strong contender to collect another card on Wednesday night. Club Brugge will carry plenty of counter-attacking threat, and Souttar may have no choice but to take one for the team.

📈 Club Brugge v Rangers Form & Tactics

Club Brugge kept up their strong start to the season by claiming a 3-1 win in last week’s first leg at Ibrox. Nicky Hayen’s side raced into a three-goal lead inside 20 minutes, by ruthlessly cutting Rangers apart. It was a real clinical display from the Belgian giants, who scored with three of their seven on-target efforts.

That triumph made it seven wins from eight across all competitions for Club Brugge this season, with the Blue-Black taking top honours from each of their last five matches - including both legs of their third round qualifier with RB Salzburg.

Club Brugge boss Hayen tends to utilise a 4-2-3-1 formation, often looking to exploit space in wide areas by creating overloads using talented wingers Carlos Forbs and Christos Tzolis. That can perhaps be attributed to the fact that Club Brugge earned a sizeable nine corners during last week’s first leg in Glasgow.

Russell Martin is under intense pressure following Sunday’s 1-1 draw away at St Mirren. That was the Gers’ third straight 1-1 draw in this season’s Scottish Premiership, meaning that Martin has now overseen the club’s worst domestic start to a campaign in 36 years.

Rangers’ players look to be really struggling to get to grips with the possession-based style of play that Martin is trying to implement, with their high defensive line repeatedly being exposed during the early stages of the season. Martin has tended to set his side up with a 4-3-3 system, though he did switch to a 3-4-3 formation during the second half of Sunday's stalemate with St Mirren.

Despite winning the xG battle 1.26 to 1.01 against Club Brugge last week, Rangers were only able to muster up a measly one shot on target.
