Brage v Halmstad
🏟
Saturday 23rd July – 2:00PM KO
This is a huge game at the top-of-the-table in Sweden’s Superettan and it is expected to be a good attendance at the 6,500-capacity Borlange Energi Arena between two of the better-supported teams in the Superettan.
These two sides begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting second and first in the Superettan table – but both sides come into the game in fairly inconsistent form.
Brage come into this on the back of back-to-back draws that have made it just one win in their last four matches. Their most recent outing was a 1-1 draw away at Skovde last weekend. That game meant both teams have scored in six of their last seven matches, highlighting a defensive weakness for a team gunning for promotion.
Halmstad, following a surprise relegation from Allsvenskan last season, sit at the top-of-the-table, as they have done for much of the campaign. However, a mid-season stumble and blip has seen the gap to the likes of Brage closed. The visitors come into this on the back of a 4-1 hammering of Utsiktens at home last weekend, though, as they flexed their muscles once more. They haven’t won consecutive matches since mid-May.
These are the two teams that have the best defences in the league, too. The two sides have conceded just 27 goals between them, with both sides the only teams to have positive double-figure goal differences.
Basically, these are the strongest sides in Sweden’s second division and it could well be a right and nervy encounter as they are so well evenly matched with a lot riding on it. Given that, it is expected to be low-scoring.

J-Sodra v Dalkurd
🏟
Saturday 23rd July – 4:00PM KO
This is a match between two sides that are struggling in the bottom half of the Superettan table, hovering just above the bottom two and the automatic relegation places.
Dalkurd sit 14th with Jonkopings Sodra in 13th and the two sides are only separated by a solitary point as they battle against the drop.
The home team, under the management of Paul Olausson, come into this on the back of three successive defeats. Dalkurd are the second-lowest scorers in the entire league, having notched just 12 times in their 14 matches so far this season.
J-Sodra’s most recent outing was a 1-1 draw away at Norrby and their form has been generally slightly better than their upcoming opponents. The visitors have lost just four matches since the international break in early-to-mid June and that one loss came against the league leaders Halmstad, away from home.
The two teams do differ in their approach and style of play. Whilst Dalkurd have scored just 12 goals and have one of the weakest attacks in the league, J-Sodra have conceded 29 goals and scored 21 in what has been a relatively entertaining 14 matches for them so far this season.
Unlike like this weekend’s top-of-the-table clash between Halmstad and Brage in the Superettan, this one is not expected to be a tense, tight and nervy affair between two evenly matched sides. Both sides will fear even a point could see them fall deeper into the mire and both will sense a glorious opportunity. Given J-Sodra’s record for letting goals in, it could be relatively entertaining for the neutral.

Brommapojkarna vs Norrby
🏟
Sunday 24th July – 12:00PM KO
So far this season, Brommapojkarna have been one of the most entertaining teams in the Swedish second division. The hosts have scored 30 goals so far, which is over two goals per game on average. Only one team has scored more than them so far and that team is AFC Eskilstuna, who have notched 31.
Their 30 goals scored might suggest they are just a very efficient team but no, under the management of Christer Mattiasson, they are simply quite frantic – but also enjoyable. They are attempting to gain promotion in a fun kind of way, with the 23 goals conceded being emblematic of their fairly gung-ho approach, at least in relative terms to the general style of domestic Swedish football.
They come into this on the back of a 1-1 draw away to OIS in their most recent outing last week. They have lost just one of their last five matches and 11 of their 14 matches so far this season have featured both teams scoring in the match with ten of their 14 having three or more goals in the game.
They now face a Norrby side that have lost just one of their last four matches as they look try and move themselves firmly into mid-table obscurity. The visitors’ most recent outing was a 1-1 draw with J-Sodra last week.
Norrby have only scored more than one goal in a game on two occasions so far this season and their style of play is very, very different to that of their upcoming opponents. However, they have been underperforming their underlying data – especially away from home.
On the road so far this season, they have scored just six goals in six games but their expected goals for games away from home is actually 9.18. That would suggest Norrby’s goal-scoring exploits should improve as the season goes on.
