WYENOT is selected to return to the winner’s enclosure, dropping in grade this afternoon. The Henry Daly-trained mare was a convincing nine-length scorer (ahead of the re-opposing Ottizzini) in Listed company at Doncaster in December, prior to a fair third in a Grade Two over this distance. She is also reunited with Alice Stevens, who was successful aboard on their previous outing.

FLASH DU PISTOLET is the only runner in the line-up who performed well last-time-out, arriving after a dominant all-the-way success at Newcastle. Despite a 6lb rise in the weights, the son of Westerner holds excellent claims of a repeat performance, against mainly regressive rivals.

NORN IRON is a fascinating runner, extended in journey, following an eyecatching 4th on handicap debut at Doncaster. His previous 2nd to a subsequent winner at this venue gives him leading credentials – that winner is now officially rated 132 and our selection gave him 5lb that day – only losing by 3/4 of a length. He looks well handicapped from a mark of 114.

SCARFACE could bounce back from a rare poor run, to field a place position. A bad jumping error cost him at this track, earlier in the month, but his previous efforts were consistent. He is just a pound higher than when last successful and has fair form on good ground, which is expected this afternoon.

SIOG GEAL is certainly in with a huge chance, entering a first handicap, from a mark of 116. The Fergal O’Brien-trained mare beat a subsequent dual winner, earlier in the season, who is now rated 121. The selection also has scope for progress upped in distance significantly – she is a three-mile point winner – which boosts confidence.

BETA READER finished with a huge, late burst to get off the mark on handicap debut over course-and-distance. With little experience, after only four runs, there is scope for further improvement – especially raised just 2lb for that first success. Charlie Johnston arrives in solid form, too, which is a positive.
