Sivasspor v Adana Demispor
Sivasspor finally won in Gaziantep and in doing so got their fourth win of the season. They may still be in the relegation places, but this squad is better than that. Despite many injuries, they have managed to become a more cohesive and physically fit team. Defensive problems linger, but they have certainly made progress in that regard. Going forwards, they have never had problems, especially with Max Gradel being so effective down the flanks. They have scored 10 goals in 6 games and more importantly, have scored in all of those 6 matches.
Adana Demirspor has been losing important players since the beginning of the season. They lost centre-back Samet Akaydin last week when he signed for Fenerbahce. The team doesn’t have a natural striker, last season’s centre-back pair left the team, and the bench is too weak. They are also solid going forwards, but leaky at the back, having conceded in 5 of the last 6 games.
Sivasspor could not keep a clean sheet in any of the last 9 games they have played. Adana Demirspor has failed to score in just 3 games this season. Therefore, both teams to score looks a very solid selection for this one.
Giresunspor v Galatasaray
Giresunspor have not won any of their last 4 matches including losing their last match at home to Umraniyespor. Due to the club having a transfer ban, they cannot improve their squad. In addition, three players from the heart of the team will not be able to play in this match. Centre-back Alexis Perez and defensive midfielder Jorman Campuzano have been called up by the Colombian national team, whilst fellow Colombian defensive midfielder Robert Mejia is suspended.
Galatasaray meanwhile have won the last 9 matches they have played in the league. They are constantly winning and even though the players change, there is a winning mentality in the team that is hard to resist. In this match, centre-back Abdulkerim Bardakci will be suspended, and young centre-back Emin Bayram will play, but it is hard to imagine that this will do much to harm the quality of Galatasaray.
Giresunspor defeated Galatasaray and Fenerbahce in the first part of the season. However, things have flipped on their head since then. The hosts have very important shortcomings, while Galatasaray are the obvious favourite to win this match, but fortunately for us, they are still priced reasonably enough for there to be value in backing them.
Kortrijk v Oostende
In Belgium, the battle to avoid the drop is more exciting than the title race. Kortrijk and Oostende are two sides mired in the relegation battle and they face each other here today.
This should be a great game as both sides scrap to escape the relegation zone. Kortrijk in particular have made great steps towards that goal since Bernd Storck took over the side. They have been competitive in any game and a better mentality has seen the players putting in considerably more effort off-the-ball, and they have 9 points from the last 15 available to show for it.
Oostende meanwhile have slumped. They have now lost seven in a row, and new coach Dominik Thalhammer has looked lost at times. They have not yet strengthened in the winter transfer window and the road to survival looks incredibly complicated for his side.
Kortrijk should win this game, although we do expect a nervy occasion. Kortrijk will have to play on the front foot with the ball, something which is not their strong suit, but previous games have shown they have little to fear on the counter-attack from Oostende, so at the very least they should expect a draw here.
However, I am confident in predicting that Kortrijk will take all three points, and the value of them to win at home sitting at odds-against, against one of the worst teams in the league on current form is simply too good to turn down.
