👑 St Leger Day 3 Win Double Tips
A classy son of Galileo, JAN BRUEGHEL is undefeated in three starts, culminating in a determined Group Two victory at Goodwood last time out. Ryan Moore reported that he was still ran green during the race and could have further improvement to come, especially stepping up in journey.
He is a brother to 2m5f flat winner Dawn Rising and to Group One winner Sovereign, which offers the prospect of progress over this stamina-sapping test.
TREASURE TIME got up too late the collar the two leaders in a strong York handicap last-time-out. The Tom Marquand-ridden three-year-old took a while to hit full stride that day, but once doing so, his turn of foot was impressive.
A rise of 7lb may appears harsh, yet he is a progressive type, against predominantly more exposed runners.
🐎 St Leger Day 3 Each-Way Trixie Tips
COVER UP was a shade unfortunate when running fifth in a strong York handicap. The Godolphin-owned sprinter was denied a clear run a few furlongs out, which paid to his chance thereafter.
He finished a respectable fifth in the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood previously and is lurking dangerously from the same handicap mark of 98. The drop to the extended 5f is worth a go, as three of his four career wins have come over the minimum journey of 5f.
POET MASTER has looked potentially top class on occasions, but his two previous best performances had come in handicaps, prior to stepping up considerably to win a Curragh Group Two last time. That was a clear personal best from this improving Lope De Vega gelding, who could yet rate higher.
With low mileage on the clock, it would be folly to dismiss his claims, with the potential of more to come now that he is maturing with racing.
MR KING is worth an each-way interest at fair odds after an encouraging stable debut at York. Unfancied in the market at 50/1 that day, he kept on well enough for seventh, only beaten two-and-a-half lengths.
If the trainer had left a bit to work on, there could be a spot of improvement to come here, and he shouldn’t be underestimated, as a winner over this distance in Ireland.
🗒️ St Leger Day 3 Each-Way Lucky 15 Tips
Our first selection in our Doncaster Lucky 15 comes in the 14:25, where we have AMERICAN AFFAIR, who is heading into today after making the top three in all 10 of his latest outings.
A consistent four-year-old gelding who has been producing his best racing so far this year. Racing six times this year, he has landed two wins and has only finished outside the front two in one of his races when third by a short head last time out at Haydock. Finishing a close third behind today’s favourite Shagraan, American Affair edged right from the stalls and was slowly away and could well have made a different story with a better start.
Racing off the same mark of 92 in today’s affair, his previous two runs have both come off this mark where he has finished 2nd and 3rd, and looking to go one better here today, he looks set to continue his consistent performances of late.
Our next selection in our Doncaster Lucky 15 is AL SHABAB STORM, who is heading into today on the back of some career-best form.
Landing a win in his opening season last year at Goodwood from four appearances, Al Shabab Storm has really kicked on this year, and his last five appearances have seen a rapid improvement. Racing five times since May, Al Shabab Storm has recorded finishes of 2, 1, 1, 2, 1 and has been progressing nicely through some tough races.
Landing his first handicap at Chester in June by 3 ¾ lengths before returning to land a double in listed company, he was narrowly denied the hat-trick at Chester when beaten by a length by Quinault, who has since gone on to land a hat-trick himself in listed company. Bouncing back Al Shabab Storm landed his first group three race last time out at Baden-Baden and looks a solid contender to improve further in this group two event.
Next up in our Doncaster Lucky 15, we have DAYSOFOURLIVES, who has been producing solid performances this year and has been unlucky not to land a win from three starts.
A lightly raced four-year-old who has raced ten times in his career, picking up three wins in the process and has been producing arguably his best form in his last three appearances without landing a win. Finishing third on his return in April after winning at Chelmsford to round up his 2023 campaign, Daysofourlives finished a solid third place at 18/1, in which the winner finished less than a length in front of him.
Backing up this performance, the gelding finished second at Newmarket over today’s 1m2f trip before finishing a close fourth of 29 in the Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot. A tough race in which he was only a length off the winner at odds of 20/1, his consistent performances could well be rewarded in today’s affair and he holds the best recent form in the race.
Last but not least, our final runner in our Doncaster Lucky 15, we have NATIVE WARRIOR, who is looking for his second win from four appearances this year.
A three-year-old colt who has found his feet in racing this year and has been progressing nicely after picking up his first win at Nottingham in May. Used as a confidence builder (1/2 starting price), it did just that, with his next appearance coming in the Britannia at Royal Ascot, where he ran a very respectable third of 29 at odds of 22/1. Going off favourite last time out at Goodwood, he added another solid performance to his collection when narrowly beaten by three-quarters of a length to finish second.
Form heading in the right direction with finishes of third and second in his last two outings, he will be looking to continue the trend today, and with trainer Karl Burke landing this race last year, the colt holds bold claims in today’s affair.
