The Republic of Ireland will travel to Paris to take on table-topping France at the Parc des Princes in this Group B affair.

Les Bleus have made the perfect start to their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, putting the heartache of their World Cup final loss behind them. The home side have won all four games thus far with an impressive aggregate score of 9-0, including a 1-0 win over their opponents in the reverse fixture at the Aviva Stadium back in March. Didier Deschamps has an array of attacking talent at his disposal and there are certainly goals in this team. Ousmane Dembele and Randal Kolo Muani have joined Kylian Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain this summer and the trio will look to convert their recent club form on the national stage. Mbappe in particular has looked inspired having been brought back into the fold at PSG, scoring five goals in his last three games.

The Republic of Ireland have been dealt a huge blow in preparation for this game with Evan Ferguson being ruled out through injury and Stephen Kenny’s men will face an uphill battle to take anything from this one. A back three of Nathan Collins, John Egan and Dara O’Shea will have their work cut out against the explosive and energetic front line of France. Egan and O’Shea in particular will be short on confidence given their recent club form where they have conceded plenty of goals in the Premier League. However, so far in their qualifying campaign, France have shipped an xG of 2.47 so it’s not inconceivable that the away side could grab a goal themselves.

Expect a few goals in this one and the Over 2.5 Goals market looks to good to resist.

Group minnows Faroe Islands will make the away trip to Poland in Group E with the hosts heavy favourites to win the match.

Despite being the highest-ranked team in the group, Poland have made an incredibly poor start to their qualifying campaign. They opened up with a 3-1 away defeat to Czech Republic before narrowly beating Albania 1-0 a few days later. An encouraging friendly win over Germany was overshadowed by a shocking 3-2 loss to outsiders Moldova last time out. Their sluggish start means this game is a must-win if they are to qualify for their fifth consecutive Euros and the home side will be conscious of improving their negative goal difference in the process. Poland’s star man Robert Lewandowski will spearhead the attack and we expect a comfortable victory for the home side.

The Faroe Islands’ hopes of qualification are slim to none, but they are by no means without a chance against a wounded Polish team. The away side have managed to grab a win in six of their last seven major tournament qualification campaigns so are prone to springing a surprise result. There have been goals in each of their opening three group games (a 1-1 draw against Moldova and 3-0 and 3-1 defeats to Czech Republic and Albania respectively). Interestingly, seven of their last ten internationals have seen the Faroe Islands find the back of the net.

Goals are expected in this encounter and Over 2.5 seems to be a sensible bet.
