L'Eau Du Sud to Win

Il Etait Temps is the right favourite for this season’s exciting G1 Tingle Creek Chase. Despite only six entries - the front three in the betting market are top-notch Grade One chase performers, who bring star quality to the Esher venue. The Willie Mullins-trained seven-year-old Jukebox Jury gelding arrives after a facile chase success on seasonal return at Clonmel. That fine 18-length win was 2m5f journey, but he has excellent form over this minimum trip. He easily brushed aside the winner of the past two renewals – Jonbon – at this track and trip in April, looking like he has that runner covered again here.

I’m giving the other main contender, L’EAU DU SUD, as the viable alternative to Il Etait Temps. The Dan Skelton inmate impressed with his jumping, when victorious in the G2 Shloer Chase at Cheltenham last month – beating Jonbon easily. He is another who brings course-winning form to the table, and would be interesting if able to dictate from the front. I believe that he should be much closer to Il Etait Temps, in the betting, and may have a little bit of improvement to come over fences.
