Wales and Turkey will go head-to-head at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday night.

Wales’ hopes of qualification are fading, with Rob Page’s side needing to beat Turkey, also relying on Croatia to drop points against Armenia. Wales are unbeaten in their last three qualifying games; however, their recent draw against Armenia was not the result they needed. Goals have been hard to come by for the hosts, only scoring nine times in seven games. Harry Wilson is Wales’ top scorer, netting three goals; however, they clearly lack a prolific striker, with Kieffer Moore only finding the net on one occasion. Wales have been decent defensively, only conceding nine goals; however, they have only managed to keep two clean sheets.

Turkey raced to qualification from Group D, only losing once in their seven games. Turkey have scored the most goals in Group D, scoring thirteen times in total. These goals have been shared by eleven scorers, highlighting that their goals can come from various sources. The quality of the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu, Kerem Akturkoglu, and Orkun Kokcu must not be understated, with the trio performing well across the qualification stage. Turkey have been very strong at the back, only conceding six times in their seven games.

When the pair last met, Turkey dominated, amassing over three times as many shots on goal than Wales. Turkey will fancy their chances of winning here; however, with Wales’ slight hope of qualification, backing either Turkey to win or draw seems sensible.

On Tuesday night, France will travel to Greece for their final game in Group B.

Following the Netherlands’ 1-0 win against Ireland at the weekend, Greece no longer have a chance of qualifying from Group B, due to Gus Poyet’s side’s poor head-to-head record against the Dutchmen. Greece’s seven games have seen plenty of goals, with the hosts scoring twelve and conceding six. Although they have beaten the two sides below them, it will be concerning for Poyet that his side have lost all of their encounters with the two sides that have qualified ahead of them, the Netherlands and France.

France have been dominant in Group B, winning all of their seven games. Goals have been flying in for their hosts, scoring twenty-seven goals in total. Fourteen of these goals came in their most recent encounter in which they thrashed Gibraltar 14-0. Kylian Mbappe is his country’s top scorer, having netted nine times in total. The PSG star has also provided creativity, assisting four times.

France won 1-0 when the two sides clashed in Paris earlier this year, and Didier Deschamps will expect his side to beat Greece again, maintaining his side’s perfect record in the qualification stage. Back the visitors to win this one.
