Viktoria Plzeň vs Barcelona
🏟
Tuesday 1st November – 8:00PM KO
As frustrating as last week’s Champions League elimination was for Barcelona, they do still have one more fixture to fulfil before exiting the competition. That comes on Tuesday as they play away at Viktoria Plzeň, a match that means absolutely nothing in the group as Barça are guaranteed third place and Europa League football while the Czech champions will come fourth.
Barcelona, therefore, are expected to field a significantly weakened line-up for the game. While they should still boast enough quality to win, they might concede to the Czech side, who did also manage to score against the Catalans in their 5-1 loss at the Camp Nou and who netted a couple in their 4-2 home defeat to Bayern Munich earlier in the group. As defender Libor Holík insisted in a media appearance, they’re taking it seriously. “We really want to earn a point from this Champions League campaign and matches like this against Barcelona, with a full stadium, are why we want to qualify for the competition in the first place,” he explained.
The good news for Viktoria Plzeň as they aim to score against Barcelona is that Xavi’s line-up will be especially weak at the back, due to injuries as well as rotations. Centre-backs Ronald Araújo, Jules Kounde, Eric García and Andreas Christensen are all missing, leaving Gerard Piqué as the only fit central defender for the trip.
There is a good chance, therefore, that Viktoria Plzeň will score on Tuesday night, while a weakened Barcelona should still boast more than enough quality in attack to get on the scoresheet at least once themselves.

Bayern Munich v Inter
🏟
Tuesday 1st November – 8:00PM KO
Whilst Napoli’s match may not be a fully dead contest, this one absolutely is. Bayern Munich have got the group win in the bag having won all five games so far in this group stage. They have also managed to do it by only conceding twice.
Inter are assured of second place after they got the better of Barcelona in the two games against the Spanish side and wrapped up qualification last time at home to Viktoria Plzen, winning 4-0.
The fact that both sides are only playing for pride, and Bayern Munich are so adept at not conceding goals in this tournament, means that it could be a very uneventful game of Champions League football.
Avoiding injuries will be the order of the day, and Simone Inzaghi already has to worry about the fact that Romelu Lukaku has a fresh injury concern so soon after coming back from a long spell out.
Inter will be limited in attack and even more fearful of losing other strikers through injury, so they may not be forcing the issue in front of the Bayern goal.
On another day this could be an incredibly intriguing contest to look forward to but circumstances mean it could be something of a procession.
