Cobreloa are languishing in the relegation zone and it’s not difficult to see why. Having lost key players in the off-season after overachieving, they’ve struggled to replace them.

Their Copa Libertadores campaign was also short lived, and having to travel 650km north to play their ‘home matches’ certainly didn’t help. CONMEBOL stated their ground was unfit for purpose, and this brought about unwanted complications for Cobreloa.

Palestino, on the other hand, gave a good account of themselves in the Libertadores and although falling slightly short, have dropped into the Sudamericana and are in the last 16.

They’ve slightly underperformed domestically as a result, but their game in hand could lift them into fifth spot, leaving them in with a shout of reaching the Libertadores once again next season.

These two faced each other back in February, with Palestino coming out as 5-0 winners. It was their biggest win of the season and the result certainly didn’t flatter them either.

However, what makes this bet even more appealing is the amount of players Cobreloa are missing for this fixture. Last time out, they drew 1-1 with Huachipato, but their players lost control in the final minutes. As a result, three of their starting players were sent off, including goalkeeper Nicolas Avellaneda.

With so many key absences going unnoticed by the bookmakers, it’s time to back Palestino to back up their impressive 2-1 win over Cuiaba in the Sudamericana, subsequently closing the gap with those at the top of their domestic league.
