Competition: UEFA Champions League

Barcelona tackles Bayern Munich in the Champions League game of the week on Wednesday, aiming to end a miserable run of form against the German side.
Bayern have won the last six between these clubs, including that incredible 8-2 quarter-final win in 2020, with the Bundesliga giants claiming these games by an aggregate score of 22-4.
Barca, meanwhile, have already suffered one European loss this term and are locked on three points with Vincent Kompany’s side, who slipped against Aston Villa in their previous away game.
⭐ Barcelona v Bayern Munich Best Bets
The 17-year-old Barcelona sensation has had 35 shots in all competitions for his club already this season, with 13 of those hitting the target. He has had 1.24 shots on target per 90 so far this term.
He is excellent value here because he has only played three matches of 15 this season in which has failed to offer a shot on target.
With three Champions League shots on target this term, including one goal, this occasion will not faze him.

🔍 Barcelona v Bayern Munich Players to Watch
🔴 Dayot Upamecano
France international centre-back Dayot Upamecano leads Bayern Munich in both fouls committed (13) and yellow cards received (four) this season, making him a prime candidate to give away at least one foul in this match. At 1.4, he also offers excellent value in this regard.
The 25-year-old has committed at least one foul in each of his last six games for Vincent Kompany’s side. Barcelona centre-forward Robert Lewandowski, his head-to-head rival, is drawing 1.51 fouls per match in all competitions.
🔴 Michael Olise
While Harry Kane captures the headlines with his goals, Olise is quietly providing a consistent scoring threat for Bayern.
Indeed, he has as many shots on target from open play this season as the England captain in the Bundesliga with ten. With 1.89 shots on target per 90, he leads FCB in Germany’s top-flight in this regard.
He has had at least one shot on target in each of his last eight outings for the Bavarian club, with multiple shots on target in four of these fixtures
🔵 Robert Lewandowski
Up against his former side, veteran striker Robert Lewandowski will be eager to impress.
With 42 shots in all competitions at a rate of 3.96 per 90, he is clear as his club’s most prolific shooter, while he also boasts 14 goals.
The Pole has been posting big numbers lately for his club side. He has had at least three shots in five of his last six games for his club, attempting a couple in the other fixture.
With ten goals across those six fixtures, he will not be short of confidence, so don’t expect him to be shot-shy.

💻 Barcelona v Bayern Munich Form and Tactics
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick plays an attacking brand of football, largely in a 4-2-3-1 formation. They have scored in every game they have played this season and have netted at least two in ten of 12. With 1.9xG or greater in seven of their last nine, this form appears to be replicable on a prolonged basis.
Unsurprisingly given these figures, they have won their last three, though are under a little pressure in the Champions League after losing to Monaco – a game they were reduced to ten men in during the first half.
Centre-forward Robert Lewandowski and wingers Raphinha and Lamine Yamal are dominating the Blaugrana offensively. Each has 35 or more shots this season, with 13 or more on target and at least five goals. Yamal also posts a big fouls draw count with 30, but look out for Marc Casado, who has been fouled on two or more occasions in three of his last four starts.
Bayern Munich are also a very attacking side that likes to play in a 4-2-3-1 system, with Vincent Kompany’s side having a similar mentality to their hosts. Bayern’s form has not been great in recent weeks but they ended a three-game winless streak with a 4-0 win over Stuttgart at the weekend.
Harry Kane had ten shots, five on target and three goals at the weekend but winger Michael Olise has been the more consistent attacking threat in recent games. The Frenchman has at least two shots and one on target in eight successive games.
By contrast, Kane has tended to explode in individual matches and has three hat-tricks already this season. Dayot Upamecano is the likeliest foul-maker in the team, having given up at least one in the last six games.
While Jamal Musiala has been fouled a club-high 17 times this season, his role in this game is questionable due to injury. Bayern also typically post big corner counts. In four of their last seven – including both Champions League matches – they have won at least 11 corners.
