Brighton v Bournemouth Bet Builder @ 4.58

The Seagulls knocked out Man United from the FA Cup at Old Trafford in midweek, holding on to a 2-1 victory. Brighton put up a solid display, too, registering 13 shots and four big chances worth 1.59 xG. They were able to resist an onslaught of pressure from the hosts in the second half to eventually come away with the win in normal time.

That result made it four games without losing for Fabian Hurzeler’s men, so they have every reason to approach this match with confidence. Since the start of November, Brighton have lost just three league games, which were against Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa - three of the current top four. 

This upcoming matchup against Bournemouth promises to be a much easier one, given that the Cherries have won just one of their last 15 matches across all competitions.

While losing Antoine Semenyo is a significant blow for Andoni Iraola, his troops looked succinct in the final third last time out against Newcastle, and they scored three goals at St James’ Park. Bournemouth have scored 13 goals in their last six league matches, finding the back of the net against the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.

However, their main weakness has been their defence. Bournemouth have conceded 29 goals from their 10 Premier League away matches this campaign, ranking them rock bottom for total goals conceded on the road. They have kept just one clean sheet in their last 13 matches across all competitions.

Based on that dreadful record, Brighton will be licking their lips at the prospect of hosting the Cherries at the Amex this weekend. The Seagulls were beaten 2-1 by Bournemouth in the reverse fixture when the sides met back in September, so will have their sights set on retribution. Yasin Ayari had a quiet afternoon in that game, but the Sweden international has been a key player for Brighton going forward this season. 

In fact, Ayari has registered more shots than any other Brighton player across all competitions this term. The 22-year-old is averaging 2.34 shots per 90, and has landed this selection in five of his last six starts. That includes tough matchups against the likes of Arsenal and Sunderland - he managed four shots at the Emirates, and five shots when the Black Cats visited the Amex.

Amine Adli filled the void left by Antoine Semenyo on the left wing against Newcastle, making his first start for Bournemouth since the start of December. The Moroccan made just the one foul in that match against the Magpies, but he definitely isn’t one to shy away from a duel - he contested a total of 12 duels at St James’ Park, registering three tackles. 

Adli has made 19 appearances across all competitions this season, but just five have been starts. The 25-year-old looks set for a much larger role in the coming weeks and will hope to make a real impact to establish himself as a regular starter. 

Adli is averaging an eye-catching 3.03 fouls per 90 across all competitions despite his limited minutes, and has registered multiple fouls in three of his five starts. Even last season, Adli had an average of 1.72 fouls per 90 for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, highlighting a real willingness to duel.

Bodo/Glimt v Man City Bet Builder @ 3.18

Man City were dealt a damning defeat at the weekend, as they lost 2-0 in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford. That result broke a 13-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, and they will hope to get back on track on Tuesday night. The Cityzens have fared better in the Champions League this season, boasting a record of four wins, one draw and one loss after six games, which puts them 4th in the standings. 

Pep Guardiola’s men are in a good position at this point in the season - they look set to make it to the EFL Cup final, are still in contention for the league, just seven points behind Arsenal, and recently secured progression in the FA Cup by beating Exeter City 10-1.

It was one-way traffic for the 10-1 FA Cup win against League One Exeter, but City still surrendered their clean sheet in the 90th minute, meaning they have completed just one shutout in their last five matches across all competitions. They looked particularly vulnerable on the break against Man United last time out, and the Red Devils had a couple of goals ruled out for narrow offside calls. 

There’s no doubting the talent that City have in the final third, and they should be looking to score multiple goals here, but Bodo will fancy their chances of causing problems on the break. Top teams have struggled at the Aspmyra Stadium this season, as Bodo scored twice against both Spurs and Juventus. 

They failed to score in their other home outing against Monaco, but had plenty of chances in that game. Bodo racked up 17 shots and three big chances worth 1.67 xG, forcing Philipp Kohn into four saves.

It can be tough for visiting teams to adapt to the harsh Norwegian conditions and the artificial surface of the Aspmyra Stadium, but Erling Haaland should have no issues with either as he returns to his native country. The 25-year-old was kept quiet against Man United last time out, registering just the two shots of which both were blocked, meaning he has scored just once in his last seven matches across all competitions. 

Considering that goal came from the penalty spot, Haaland should be more motivated than ever to recover his form and get back to scoring ways. Despite his rough patch, Haaland has scored 26 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions this season, and is still the Premier League top scorer. He has also bagged six goals from six Champions League appearances, and will hope to punish a Bodo side who have shipped 13 goals from their six European outings.

Rodri completed the full 90 for just the third time this season at the weekend, although he didn’t get the desired result against Man United. The Spaniard is unlikely to start in midweek, as Pep Guardiola manages his minutes, meaning Nico O’Reilly could return to defensive midfield against Bodo. Nico Gonzalez has missed the last two matches through injury, meaning O’Reilly featured in midfield against Newcastle in the EFL Cup. He committed just the one foul at St James’ Park before being substituted after 62 minutes. 

The 20-year-old is averaging 1.8 fouls per 90 in the Champions League this season, has committed more fouls than any other Man City player, and has landed this selection in all five appearances in the competition this term. Bodo were fouled 17 times in their last European outing at home, highlighting how they can be quite a difficult side to contain.
