Braintree Town v Worthing (National League South)
🏟
Saturday 15th October – 3:00PM KO
This fixture is looking like quite an unpredictable one, with only 3 points separating the two but the bookmakers are holding Worthing to be fairly strong favourites. However, I don’t think you can write Braintree off here, they’ll have the home advantage and neither side have had particularly strong form recently.
Aaron Blair has been Braintree’s standout player, alongside Levi Amantchi who have both found the back of the net on five occasions this season. They’ll be chasing a win in this fixture that could leave them in 5th place if the results fall into place. An issue in chasing that win may be their defensive weaknesses that have been exposed in recent games.
Dover, despite being underdogs, tore the Braintree defence apart last weekend and I’m sure Worthing will have studied this going into the game. Braintree have conceded in 7 of their last 8 games therefore I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re caught out at the back again.
Worthing, despite poor recent form, have had a strong opening to the season that has left them in 5th place. Callum Kealy and Ollie Pearce have netted the most goals for the away side so far, although the goalscorers for Worthing have been quite a mixed bag. The Worthing attack has become quite a force as the season has gone on, with Lewis White finding himself on the scoresheet almost as often as Kealy and Pearce.
Despite being favourites, Worthing may have low confidence going into this game having gone 4 games without a win. In all 4 of those games, they’ve managed to get a goal, meaning I expect them to do so regardless of the result. Therefore, both teams to score seems likely here. Both are struggling defensively whilst still scoring on most gameweeks meaning this game should see a variety of goals.

Dartford v Tonbridge Angels (National League South)
🏟
Saturday 15th October – 3:00PM KO
Dartford have certainly had a better start to the season than Tonbridge, sitting in 4th place with 24 points compared to Tonbridge’s 17 points in 8th place. Samir Carruthers has scored 5 goals this season making him Dartford’s top scorer, they’ve won 4 from their last 4 and he’s found himself on the scoresheet in 2 of them.
They’re in good form and will be looking for another win which could leave them 3rd in the table and only 2 points from 2nd. Manager Alan Dowson will be seeing this as a must win game and therefore can be expected to play in an aggressive manner – similar to how they played last week away to Dulwich.
Despite Dartford going into this fixture with tons of momentum, Tonbridge will know that the Darts tend to concede often. They’ve conceded at least one in 6 of their last 7 games. The one game they kept a clean sheet in was against Hungerford who have only won 2 games so far this season. To match this quite nicely, Tonbridge have scored quite impressively recently, scoring 6 goals in their last 3 games.
I believe both teams to score should come through here, Tonbridge have also managed to concede 6 goals in their last 3 games meaning it evens out and provides evidence to show that they can have high scoring games. They’ve had a mixed set of goalscorers so far, and their play style reflects this well. You can expect a lot of risky plays from both sides here due to the intensity of both attacks – both teams should be getting a lot of chances.

Hemel Hempstead v Cheshunt (National League South)
🏟
Saturday 15th October – 3:00PM KO
Hemel Hempstead have seen quite a positive turnaround in their season, finally finding some form after going 6 games without a win. Ogo Obi has scored 5 goals so far, 2 of them kickstarting a good run of form in a 3-1 win away to Dulwich to get their first win in over a month.
Since then, Hemel Hempstead have gone four games unbeaten and will certainly see this game as an opportunity to make it 5. They now sit 14th in the league, a win here would completely change their season and could put them in the top half of the table.
Cheshunt is the perfect game for Hemel Hempstead right now, they go into this game with 1 win and 10 losses in 11 games so far. Their momentum is at a serious low, especially considering that 1 win was on the first day of the season.
They often tend to concede early and then fail to get back into the game. This seems like quite a likely thing to occur on Saturday due to the home side having so much momentum and knowing that this game could send them into the top half of the table.
After Hemel Hempstead’s win away to Slough last weekend, manager Mark Jones made specific mention of their defensive line. Cheshunt have scored the most goals out of the current clubs in the relegation zone, so the home side may be tested at times – although if they continue the form, they showed last week I cannot see them breaking through. Therefore, a Hemel Hempstead win should come through here.
