Gillingham are the lowest scorers in the Football League as they look to face a Bradford City side desperate to get back to winning ways.

The Gills have found the net just six times so far this season in their first 20 games and find themselves inside the relegation zone. Their poor form has seen their head of recruitment Nicky Shorey leave the club this week and they were beaten 3-0 at home by Salford City in their last league game.

Speaking after that one, boss Neil Harris said he was ‘disappointed’ and ‘dejected’ by yet another loss and his side just can’t seem to get results at the moment as they stare down the barrel of a potential relegation to non-league. They are missing first choice goalkeeper Glenn Morris due to injury and his replacement between the sticks Jake Turner has struggled to get to grips with life in the EFL following his summer switch after being released by Newcastle United and has let in seven goals in his last four leagu appearances.

Gillingham have won just twice all season and their lack of goals is causing a serious problem for them right now. Any side who play against them at the moment would fancy their chances of picking up a win with pressure mounting on Harris’ position as manager.

Bradford’s squad is littered with top quality options such as striker Andy Cook, midfielder Richie Smallwood and winger Harry Chapman and they have a great opportunity to get three points this weekend in Kent. They lost 3-0 away at Leyton Orient in their last clash and will be looking for a response. Manager Mark Hughes said after the loss to the O’s that they will still be ‘there or thereabouts’ at the top end of the table come the end of this campaign.

The Bantams have received a big boost on the injury front recently following the return of wide man Jamie Walker from injury and he provides useful competition and depth in the squad with players such as Tyreik Wright, Scott Banks and Abo Eisa. Bradford are 6th in the table and are in a strong position to make a big push for promotion this term but need to start picking up more wins on the road, starting with Gillingham on Saturday.

They will be hoping their top scorer Cook, who has fired an impressive 16 goals in all competitions, can inspire them to a win at Priestfield.
