King’s Lynn Town v Bradford Park Avenue
The Linnets head into this one 5 games unbeaten, a win here would send them top of the with Fylde out of action. They’ve played 11 games at home this season and are still yet to lose with 10 wins and 1 draw, that one coming against Leamington back in August. Bradford PA have only won 2 games on the road this season, both coming against teams in the bottom 6. You can expect King’s Lynn to go into this one with a sense of ruthless aggression, they have the better players on the pitch and a win would cement their place at the top of the league. Whilst a draw would allow them to go top on goal difference, I highly doubt this is the attitude they will head into the game with. Nor do I believe that would occur even if the game was meaningless, merely due to the quality that King’s Lynn have on the pitch.
Bradford PA’s last win came on the 5th December, drawing five and losing one. Whilst it may be argued that this is unlucky and a win is on its way – although this really isn’t looking like the place they get it. A clear issue for them is seeing out games and this is something King’s Lynn won’t fall to, they have the 2nd best defensive record in the league. I expect Bradford PA to look to sit back in this game and shouldn’t pose too much of a threat going forward. The home side have broken teams like this down many times this season and I expect them to do it again.
Kidderminster Harriers v Blyth Spartans
The home side could push their way into playoff spots with a win here against a struggling Blyth side. The midlands side have 6 points from their last 2 games and are yet to lose in the league this year. An Ashley Hemmings brace last weekend gave them all three points away to Peterborough Sports and should have given them the momentum to go into this one gunning for all three points. A clear issue for Kidderminster has been scoring goals this season (scoring the least in the top 16) although it’s starting to seem that this issue is being resolved with crucial goals coming in all of their last three games. Alternatively, it may be argued that they have been defensively sound this season, with the 6th best defensive record. This should play into their hands come Tuesday evening, with the away side having goalscoring issues of their own. Both teams seem to be missing a prolific goalscorer – although Kidderminster having the much better season so far due to consistently strong defending. The quality on paper has also made a huge difference.
Blyth currently sit 23rd in the league, 4 points from safety with only one win in their last ten games. They’ve played away from home 13 times this season and have lost 9 of them, the last one coming at the weekend with a 3-0 loss to a struggling Buxton side. Momentum is incredibly low at the moment for the Spartans, Kidderminster will be looking to take advantage of this with a win being crucial if they want to seriously contend in the playoffs. The Aggborough is also no easy place to go away to, especially with a lack of momentum. The Harriers have averaged the highest attendances in the league this year and a push for playoffs would only intensify this.
