Czech Republic v Denmark Quarter Final Preview
Maybe not the most glamorous tie on paper but this game will be of particular interest to England fans with the winner of this game heading to Wembley to face the three lions in the semi-finals should they see of Ukraine. The way the knockout bracket has fallen means that to reach the final, Italy, Belgium and Spain will have to knock each other out of the tournament, whereas the sides on the bottom of the tournament bracket have an easier run. The top half had an average FIFA ranking of 9, while the bottom half’s average would be 18. These two sides are lucky enough to be in the bottom half of the draw and in theory have an ‘easier’ route to the final as a result. The Czechs progressed in 2nd from Group D behind England and faced the Netherlands in the last 16. They put in an outstanding performance and deservedly beat the Dutch 2-0 in Budapest on Sunday to progress and will be full of confidence going in to this one. The Danes made a slow start to the tournament which was understandable given the Christian Eriksen situation. They were fantastic against Wales in the last 16 winning 4-0 and look to be a team going from strength to strength as we reach the latter stages.
Czech Republic at Euro 2020
The Czech Republic’s form going into the tournament is a bit patchier than Denmark’s, but they have beaten England and drawn with Belgium in the two years ahead of Euro 2020. They have surprised many with their performances this summer, including myself and in Patrik Schick they have one of the stars of the tournament so far. On the route to the Euros, no Czech player scored more than one goal, but this tournament, Bayer Leverkusen’s Patrik Schick already has four to his name and could end up with the Golden Boot if he scores at least one more goal in the knockout stages. Given the form of the Czech number 9 I feel he is as good a shout as any to get on the scoresheet in this one. He is priced at 3.6 to score anytime which looks a reasonable price.

Denmark at Euro 2020
Since September 2018, the only teams to beat Denmark have been Belgium, who managed it three times, and Finland in that traumatic match earlier this tournament. In that time, Denmark have drawn with Germany, and got a draw and a win against England. That form had taken them into the top ten of the global FIFA rankings ahead of Euro 2020. They are clearly a very good side who pride themselves on having a solid defence and tend to play an intense high-energy game that few teams can deal with. Only Spain have actually conceded few shots per game than the Danes which shows what solid foundations they are built on. They were fantastic against Wales and thoroughly deserved their 4-0 victory and have recently discovered their shooting boots with 8 goals scored in their last two games. They will come in to this one in supreme confidence and will fancy their chances of reaching the semis as they take on the Czechs in Baku.
Denmark Predicted Line-up vs. Czech Republic: Schmeichel; Christensen, Kjaer, Vestergaard; Larsen, Hojberg, Delaney, Maehle; Braithwaite, Damsgaard; Dolberg (3-4-2-1)
Czech Republic v Denmark Betting Tips & Predictions
Both sides put in fantastic displays in their respective last 16 games and will arrive in Baku full of belief and confidence. The lack of big-name players, combined with a FIFA ranking of 40, which doesn’t reflect the team’s quality, could lead some to underestimate the Czechs. But their win against the Netherlands means people now might start taking notice of them. I do however feel that the superior quality that the Danes possess will be enough to see them through here. 2-1 Denmark is my prediction for this one.
