Alex Scott has been really impressive for Bournemouth this season, and his performances have been attracting attention from some of the top clubs in the Premier League as the Cherries eye up another big sale after losing key players for big fees last summer. 

Scott plays just behind the front four, but Bournemouth’s style means that he operates mostly as a box-to-box midfielder, with his energy being very useful in Iraola’s aggressive style of play and pressing structure. He gets through quite a lot of work defensively, committing 38 fouls across his 31 starts in the Premier League this season (1.32 per 90).

Bournemouth committed 16 fouls when they faced Palace earlier in the season, with this selection landing via Super Sub as Christie came on for Scott and committed two fouls - also picking up a yellow card in that game. Scott has committed a foul in three of his last five Premier League starts, and I think he can maintain his decent foul record in this clash.

Andoni Iraola is one of my favourite managers in the Premier League, his pressing style and structure is very entertaining to watch and has transformed Bournemouth into one of the best units out of possession in the Premier League.

The only two slight drawbacks to the intensity that Iraola wants his team to play with is fatigue, and Bournemouth’s disciplinary record, with the Cherries picking up 81 yellow cards in the Premier League this season (2.38 per game). Only Brighton (82) and Tottenham (85) have picked up more cards in the Premier League this season than Bournemouth.

Unlike Tottenham and other sides battling towards the bottom of the Premier League, Bournemouth’s card record is directly linked to their style of play rather than being a result of frustration of petulance. They picked up four yellow cards from a foul count of 16 when these sides met earlier on in the campaign.

Crystal Palace racked up eight corners on their visit to Anfield last time out, and have relied on these set-piece situations as a route to goal under Oliver Glasner, with their threat from open play being quite blunt at times this season, with no real creative spark to plug the gap left by Eze and Olise.

Palace are averaging 4.30 corners per game in the Premier League this season, a tally that only drops slightly (4.19) when looking at their games away from home this season. Palace racked up six corners when these sides met earlier on in the season, with that game finishing 3-3.

Bournemouth’s chaotic style of play can give up corners to their opponents; they’re conceding 5.21 corners per game in the Premier League this term, which drops to 4.06 corners conceded per game when playing at the Vitality Stadium. Palace’s reliance on these situations, paired with the end-to-end nature of Bournemouth’s games, should see the away side register at least four corners at a pretty generous price even as a single.

This is an angle that I regularly back for sides that travel to take on Bournemouth. Iraola’s pressing structure has an end goal when the Cherries win the ball back in advanced areas - and that is to get a shot away as quickly as possible after winning the ball back.

Instead of recycling possession and fashioning out a more realistic opportunity, Bournemouth aim almost anywhere, and this is reflected in their shot numbers this season. Only Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United have had more shots in the Premier League this season than Bournemouth (338). 

This strong shot output has led to Bournemouth averaging 4.70 shots on target per game in the Premier League this season, and I think their trigger-happy nature can force Dean Henderson into making at least three saves here. Henderson is enjoying another decent campaign for Palace, averaging 2.84 saves per 90 in the Premier League with a save percentage of 70% as well as 12 clean sheets across his 32 starts.

This angle mainly leans on Palace’s proficiency from corners and other set-piece situations. Palace can struggle to create chances from open play at times; they are missing a real creative spark who can create a few chances per game and are a bit reliant on set pieces as a result.

All three centre-backs in Guehi, Richards, and Lacroix managed a shot when these sides met earlier in the campaign from the six corners that Palace racked up against Bournemouth earlier in the season. Guehi has since left the club, but the threat still remains with Lacroix and Richards, who Palace look for in these corner situations.

Lacroix has had 22 shots across his 31 starts in the Premier League this season (0.72 per 90), which is a pretty decent record for a centre back. 17 of these efforts have been from corners, and 14 have been headed shots - so it may be worth looking into markets for Lacroix to have a single shot or headed shot here as well as backing him to find the target as part of this longshot.

Daniel Munoz committed two fouls in the most recent head-to-head meeting between these sides and has been on a bit of an aggressive streak of late, having picked up two yellow cards across his last three matches for Oliver Glasner’s side.

Munoz has previously been described by Oliver Glasner as the ‘perfect Premier League player’ with the Palace boss pointing to his general tenacity and energy as key traits which have helped him settle into the intensity of the division, which players from foreign leagues usually find quite hard to do.

He’s committed 34 fouls across his 24 starts in the Premier League this season (1.49 per 90). He’s committed 2+ fouls in three of his last five Premier League matches, committing as many as six fouls in one of these games - showing just how aggressive Munoz is at the moment. He’ll be up against Tavernier and Truffert down his side of the pitch, who combine to win 2.06 fouls per 90 in the Premier League this season.
