This promises to be an entertaining contest between two of the leagues’ most attack-minded sides. Southampton and Ipswich rank second and third, respectively, for total goals scored in the Championship this season. With automatic promotion hanging firmly in the balance, neither will be content to sit back and play for a draw at St Mary's, as this match could have massive implications for who plays in the Premier League next season. 

The reverse fixture at Portman Road finished 1-1 when these sides met in January, and it took just 29 minutes for both teams to find the back of the net. It also finished 1-1 when these sides last met at St Mary’s Stadium - which was last season when both sides were in the Premier League. 

Jacob Greaves has been a contributor to Ipswich's recent uptick in fouls, and the centre back was carded against West Brom last time out. He registered two infringements in that game, taking his average to 0.96 fouls per 90 in the league this season, but he has been notably more aggressive when his side are playing away. The 25-year-old is averaging 1.31 fouls per 90 on the road, where he has landed this selection in nine of his 13 starts overall. He has also recorded multiple infringements in seven of those matches, which shows how Ipswich usually don’t exert as much control on games when they play away. 

Greaves is tasked with being aggressive in his duels, usually stepping out of the defensive line to try and win the ball back quickly, and he should have plenty of defensive work to get through here against an in-form Southampton side. 

Shea Charles has been a key figure in midfield for the Saints this season, and he will have to play a big role again here if his side are to come away with a positive result. The Northern Ireland international has become an increasingly important figure in recent weeks, and he has popped up with some massive goals - he found the back of the net against Arsenal in the FA Cup, which proved to be the winner, before also scoring against Swansea a couple of weeks ago which started an impressive comeback. 

Shea Charles is averaging 1.53 shots per 90 in the Championship this season, rising to 2.05 when playing at home, where he has landed this selection in each of his last five starts. He should be full of confidence based on his recent form, so will hopefully keep popping up in promising positions to let fly.
