Ipswich v Arsenal

📅

Kick Off: Sunday 20th April at 14:00

🏆
Competition: Premier League

Arsenal travel to Portman Road following a historic win at the Bernabeu over Real Madrid, booking their spot in the semi-finals where they’ll face PSG. Arsenal don’t really have much left to fight for in the league, with Liverpool playing a waiting game to be crowned champions, but Arteta will want to ensure that his side have some momentum heading into that two-legged clash with the Ligue 1 champions.

Ipswich’s hopes of surviving in the Premier League have been put to bed in recent weeks, a must-win game against Wolves ending in defeat has put the final nail in the coffin for Kieran McKenna’s side, barring any late miracles. Ipswich will want to ensure that they don’t go back down with a whimper, with this clash against Arsenal representing one of just three games they have left at Portman Road this season.

Liam Delap to have 1+ Shots on Target 🔄

This selection has landed in each of Liam Delap’s last five Premier League starts. Surprisingly, he was benched for Ipswich’s trip to Stamford Bridge, where they managed to come away with a point after surviving the Chelsea onslaught in the second half. Delap came off the bench in that 2-2 draw to find the target in just 19 minutes of action.

Delap has had 30 shots on target across his 31 Premier League appearances this season (1.14 per 90). This record has returned 12 goals for the 22-year-old which is a seriously impressive record for a player having to feed off scraps in the majority of games he plays. Delap is aided by his physical strength and ability to carry the ball well in channels, which allows Ipswich to offer an attacking threat when they are being pinned back in games.

Ipswich have no reason to hold back here or go with a tentative approach, seeing as there really isn’t much jeopardy left in their season. This was evident in Ipswich’s performance at Stamford Bridge, where they had 13 shots, four of which found the target.

🔍 Ipswich v Arsenal Players to Watch

🔴 Myles Lewis-Skelly

Myles Lewis-Skelly continues to impress from fullback for the Gunners. He looked so comfortable at the Bernabeu during the week, showing his strength in carrying the ball into central areas and progressing the play through the thirds. He was brought down five times in that game, showcasing his ability to win fouls at the very highest level.

The 18-year-old has won 33 fouls across his 17 Premier League appearances this season (3.09 per 90) and was hauled down three times in the initial meeting between the sides at the Emirates. Ipswich committed 12 fouls on that occasion and are averaging 11.5 fouls committed per game in the Premier League this season.

🔴 Bukayo Saka

Saka redeemed himself after fluffing his lines from the penalty spot against Real Madrid during the week. Arsenal’s talisman got on the end of an excellent team move to finish smartly past Courtois, taking his tally to 23 goal contributions in 29 appearances across all competitions - an excellent record which is unrivalled in the Arsenal squad.

Saka has registered 16 goal contributions across his 16 starts in the Premier League this season (6 goals, 10 assists) and can hurt an Ipswich side that have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last five Premier League outings.
