He will have an ideal opportunity to do so this weekend against an Athletic Club side who have really struggled this season. They currently sit 7th in the league with a record of five wins, two draws and five losses. Away form has been particularly worrying, as Los Leones have failed to win any of their last six matches in all competitions on their travels, losing five of those fixtures.

Worryingly, they have failed to score in four of those games, and with injuries to key attacking personnel, it seems unlikely for that to change. Oihan Sancet, Inaki Williams and Maroan Sannadi are all doubtful to feature this weekend, while Nico Williams has also been battling injury this season and has not started since August.

Athletic Club lost all three head-to-head encounters against Barcelona last season, which does not bode well for them here.

Marcus Rashford has been the unsung hero in this Barcelona squad this season, the Englishman has been in standout form since arriving from Man United. Rashford has six goals and seven assists to his name after 16 appearances in all competitions for the Catalans, landing this bet in 11 of his last 13 appearances in total. 

In fact, no Barcelona player has contributed more goals and assists than Rashford this season - Lamine Yamal is second with six goals and five assists. The 28-year-old has found his confidence once again, and is averaging 4.27 shots per 90 in all competitions this campaign. 

He has maintained that form on the international stage, too, picking up an assist for Harry Kane against Albania, despite only featuring for a 15-minute cameo off the bench. The winger is playing at the top of his game at the moment, and will hope to keep that run going against Athletic Club. 

Frenkie de Jong received a second yellow card in the dying embers of the game against Celta Vigo just before the international break, meaning the Dutchman will have to serve a one-match suspension here. His regular midfield partner Pedri is also out, leaving the Catalans slightly light on midfield options. 

Because of that, Marc Casado should reclaim his starting spot in midfield, potentially alongside either Fermin Lopez or Dani Olmo. Casado will have the destroyer role, with a lot more defensive responsibility. The 22-year-old is incredibly aggressive in his press, and can rack up fouls - he committed six fouls against Elche at the start of November, and was fortunate to escape a booking. 

He is averaging 2.06 fouls per 90 in all competitions this season, a slight increase from his 1.71 fouls per 90 average of last season, and he could be set for a massive role in the heart of midfield this weekend.

After boasting the best defensive record in the Spanish top-flight last season, Athletic Club have regressed massively this term. They have kept just two clean sheets in their last 13 matches, which were against Real Oviedo and Elche - two newly-promoted sides.

Los Leones have struggled in the tougher matchups, losing against Arsenal, Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League by an aggregate score of 8-1. This matchup against Barcelona will be their toughest test of the season so far, and Ernesto Valverde’s men are certainly not in the best shape to compete.

The Catalans will be fired up for their return to Camp Nou, hoping to provide the 105,000-strong crowd some entertainment. Barcelona are averaging 3.91 goals per game in the Spanish top-flight this season, with over 2.5 goals landing in 11 of their 12 matches overall.
