Fuelled by a passion for sport and a sharp instinct for uncovering patterns in data, beating the bookies became the perfect outlet for my competitive streak. Now I take pleasure in sharing my finds with ABC punters. I enjoy finding niche angles and betting value in a range of markets and leagues, my favourite being in Serie A.

With Atletico trailing league leaders Real Madrid by 8 points, there is little room for error for Simeone’s men, who will be desperate to close down that gap.

Levante will aim to put a bit of daylight between themselves and the relegation zone, with only goal difference keeping them up at this point, although this seems unlikely given Atletico’s impressive run of form.

The Bookies have Atletico as heavy favourites at 1.2, meanwhile Levante are as long as 13.0 to take all 3 points.

Julian Alvarez to Score Anytime

Julian Alvarez has been on fire this season, and coming up against Levante’s shaky defence, I expect him to find a way onto the scoresheet once again.

He’s already scored 9 goals across all competitions this season, and bagged in each of his last two matches. Atletico’s star striker has averaged 0.74 goals and 0.55 expected goals per 90 minutes in La Liga, indicating the right blend between clinical finishing and scoring opportunities.

Leavante’s defence is amongst Spain’s worst, shipping an average of 1.82 goals per league game, and an even greater number of xGa.

Levante 3+ Cards

Levante have been frequent offenders this season, averaging just under 2.3 cards per game. They’ve been awarded 3 or more cards in 5 of their 11 league matches to date, and were cautioned as many as 4 times in their last outing, against Celta Vigo.

Atletico’s record is even more encouraging, with their opponents averaging 2.73 cards per 90, rising to an astonishing 3.67 at home. This line has landed in 7 of their 11 league clashes, with a 100% win rate at Metropolitano.

Jesús Gil Manzano has been appointed referee for Saturday’s clash, which spells further good news for punters. The Spanish referee has averaged 4.54 cards distributed per 90 this season, and 5.23 per game over his career.

📈 Atletico Madrid v Levante Form & Stats

Atletico seem to have gotten back on track, following a dismal start to their league campaign, which saw them record just a single win across their first 5. Since then, however, Simeone’s men have managed 5 wins and a draw, including a 5-2 demolition job in the Madrid derby.

Last time out, they comfortably beat USG 3-1 in the Champions League - an important result given they’d previously suffered an embarrassing 4-0 defeat at the Emirates. All in all, the trajectory looks promising, but the 8-point gap between them and Madrid, who sit top of La Liga, is still a serious concern.

Levante have picked up just 9 points from their opening 11 games, leaving them 16th in the league, albeit level on points with Valencia, who sit in the relegation zone.

The underlying stats suggest the margin between them and the drop zone should be significantly wider; in fact, Levante’s 5 points underperformance is the most of any side in Spain’s top flight. Typically, we see gulfs like these converge as the season goes on, but if Atletico’s form is anything to go by, they may have to remain patient for the time being.
