AC Milan to Win @ 1.57

AC Milan have started the season strongly under the tutelage of Massimiliano Allegri who was tasked with getting this AC Milan side back to the summit of Italian football, following a disastrous season in which AC Milan missed out on European football.

They’ve only lost one of their 10 games in Serie A so far this season, winning six of these matches. This defeat was right at the start of the season against Cremonense so Milan have avoided defeat in each of their last nine Serie A matches. They’ve won two of their four games on the road this term, netting six goals across these games and impressively conceding just one - the best defensive away record of any side in the division.

Parma sit 16th in Serie A having won just one of their 10 matches. The only reason why Parma aren’t lower in the table is due to the fact that they have drawn five of their matches so far this season, so there is a degree of stubbornness to the home side but that is unlikely to be enough to withstand the pressure from AC Milan.

The home side have lost three of their last five matches across all competitions, drawing the other two games 0-0. They’ll struggle to breach the backline of Milan which is the strongest of any side on the road in Serie A this term, leading to a comfortable victory for Allegri’s side.

Over 5.5 AC Milan Corners @ 1.90

AC Milan are averaging 4.40 corners per game in Serie A this season, with this average dropping slightly to 3.25 per game when looking at their away matches. However, Parma should give Milan an opportunity to increase their corner tally on the road, with the home side currently conceding 4.70 corners per game, and 4.40 corners per game at home.

Milan are likely to exceed their corner average, considering they’re playing against a Parma side that will sit deep. We’ve seen this rise in other games that Milan have played against the sides towards the bottom of Serie A, with Milan winning six corners in a recent clash against Pisa and winning 12 corners in a Coppa Italia clash against Lecce - both sides that sit around Parma in Serie A.

Rafael Leao Over 0.5 Shots on Target @ 1.30

Leao has had real success in the striker role since Massimiliano Allegri stepped into the frame as AC Milan head coach. Leao plays as one of two forwards in a 3-5-2 structure with Leao perfectly suited to this role with his incredible dribbling ability and strong record in front of goal this term.

Leao has netted three goals across his six appearances in Serie A this term, with four of these being starts. He’s had 14 shots across these games (3.49 per 90) with seven of these attempts finding the target (1.75 per 90). AC Milan rank third for expected goals in Serie A this season (15.9) and are averaging 4.80 shots on target per game, so you would expect Leao to have chances to find the target in this encounter.

Leao has had a shot on target in four of his last five appearances in Serie A with three of these appearances seeing the 26-year-old have multiple attempts on target. This highlights just how much Leao’s shot record has benefitted from being in the striker role this season.

Youssouf Fofana Over 0.5 Shots @ 1.20

Fofana has had 2+ shots in each of his last five appearances for AC Milan in Serie A. We’re after him to have just one shot here with Fofana registering 19 shots across his 10 appearances in Serie A overall this season (2.10 per 90).

Fofana had 36 shots across his 35 Serie A appearances last season (1.29 per 90), which shows that his average can stay consistent over a larger sample size. Fofana could be particularly in the spotlight to have a shot here due to how this game is likely to play out, with Parma sitting deep and forcing Milan to have shots from distance - Parma have conceded 31 shots from outside of the box across their last five matches (6.2 per game).

29 of Fofana’s 36 efforts last season came from outside of the area (80.5%) so it’s also worth backing him for a shot from outside of the box if that market is available. His promising shot record so far this season, combined with Parma’s tendency to drop deep against the bigger sides should offer Fofana an opportunity to get a shot away here, likely to be from outside of the box.

Leao has had real success in the striker role since Massimiliano Allegri stepped into the frame as AC Milan head coach. Leao plays as one of two forwards in a 3-5-2 structure with Leao perfectly suited to this role with his incredible dribbling ability and strong record in front of goal this term.

📈 Parma v AC Milan Form & Tactics

Parma’s home record will be critical to their chances of staying up this season. Five of their seven points have already come at home this season, highlighting just how important it is for them to pick up results in front of their home fans. Parma have avoided defeat in three of their five home games this term, but have been far from prolific with just four goals scored across these matches.

Parma fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Bologna last time out at home. Parma did suffer a first-half red card in that game, which skewed the end result, but they were dominated in the game, with Bologna having 22 shots and registering an xG of 2.72. Even without a man advantage, Milan should be able to cause Parma similar problems to which they are unlikely to have an answer, seeing as Milan have been so solid defensively on the road so far.

Milan are progressing well under Allegri and currently sit third in Serie A, having avoided defeat in nine of their 10 matches so far. Milan have the advantage of not being in any European competition this season, which could prove crucial to their chances come the end of the campaign, with six Serie A sides competing in Europe this season.

Milan have avoided defeat in all four of their away matches this season, winning two and drawing two of these games. They sit third in Serie A when it comes to xG (15.7) and are much more organised at the back than they were last season. A change in shape has also benefited the Milan players, with players like Leao and Modric both excelling in Allegri’s 3-5-2 shape.

📔 Parma v AC Milan Formation & Team News

Parma are likely to match up AC Milan and deploy a 3-5-2 shape with a focus on shutting off central areas and getting their success on the counterattack. Their forward forays will be rare, seeing as they’re the lowest scorers in Serie A this term (5) and they rank second bottom for expected goals (8.40) as well as second bottom for shots on target per game (2.60).

Parma have quite a lengthy injury list coming into this game, further limiting their chances of taking something from the game. Defensive midfielder Christian Ordonez is suspended for this game, and as many as seven first-team players will join him on the sidelines for Parma due to injury.

AC Milan will line up in a 3-5-2, which has been very effective for Allegri so far this season. Rafael Leao has benefitted the most from this change of system, with the 26-year-old now leading the line for Milan. He’s expected to be partnered by Nkunku, who is also starting to find his feet in Serie A after a tough spell with Chelsea in the Premier League.

AC Milan continue to be without Christian Pulisic, which is a big blow. Adrien Rabiot is also expected to miss this game, while Santiago Gimenez is a doubt to start, but may still make the squad.
