Haiti Couleurs to Win @ 4.50

HAITI COULEURS has been an absolute revelation over fences – winning four of his five starts – including a sensational success in last season’s Irish Grand National. The Dragon Dancer gelding has risen remarkably in the weights, from a mark of 122 over fences, to now sitting at a lofty rating of 154.

It is not beyond the realms of possibility, that he could find further improvement, this season, with low mileage over fences. We know that Haiti Couleurs is a fantastic jumper, who attacks the fences, from the front. He is likely to go forward here and make this extended 3m1f distance a real test of stamina, having already proven his immense staying prowess.

It looks like a dry-ish week, except for the chance of rain on Saturday, but my selection handles all ground conditions. Dual winner, Royal Pagaille, is now 11 and may prefer ground to be testing, while the current favourite, Grey Dawning, has a lengthy absence to overcome. He sets a high enough standard, on the figures, but I feel there is far too much of a difference in the prices between what he has achieved, compared to Haiti Couleurs. I would love him to win this strongly and really lay down a marker, as a good British contender for the Cheltenham Gold Cup – at a track we know he thrives on.
