Bodo only know one way to play. High-octane, attacking football with a high press. Even at 3-0 up, I think you’ll see them have a go and try to force errors. They did the exact same in the Inter match, they went there with a lead to protect, and still looked to hound Inter in defence - which paid off. They also committed men forward at every opportunity on the counter.

Seven of Bodo’s eight league phase matches saw this selection land, with their matches averaging 3.60 goals. Of course, both their play-off matches against Inter Milan and the first leg of this clash saw three goals or more.

Sporting have also seen seven out of eight land this selection in the group stage. Their matches averaged 3.50 goals.

Domestically, 75% of their home games have seen three or more goals scored, with 3.33 on average per match.

This is a really nice looking price for the Bodo centre back. He was booked in the reverse fixture and committed two fouls.

He’s been pretty consistent throughout his Champions League campaign. He’s averaging 1.31 fouls per 90, and has committed two fouls in each of his last three matches in this competition.

Another key aspect here is Luis Suarez. The Sporting striker has been on fire this season, he’s netted 27 times for his club and is their main marksman. He’s physical, he likes to back into defenders and try to roll them, which makes him a bit of a magnet for fouls.

Suarez has drawn an average of 1.73 fouls per 90 domestically, which is a very solid number anyway, but in Europe this has risen to a huge 2.88. Sporting dominate a lot of domestic matches, and sometimes opponents simply can’t get close enough to stop him - Gundersen definitely didn’t have that issue last week.

Another really generous-looking price. Bjorkan is all action on the left side of defence for Bodo. A capable defender, but definitely one who is more attacking orientated, as most full backs are in the modern era.

He’s averaged 1.35 fouls per 90 in the Champions League this season, he’s fouled in four of his last five matches and has gone above the line we need on two occasions, including in the first leg, where he committed three fouls.

His direct opponent was Geny Catamo. The Mozambique international is very adept at drawing fouls; he’s impeded an average of 2.29 times per 90 in the Primeira Liga, and that is mirrored almost identically in Europe, where he has drawn an average of 2.22 fouls per 90.

There’s also the threat of overlapping full back, Georgios Vagiannidis. He has drawn an average of 2.11 fouls per 90 in Europe. With Sporting set to have plenty of the ball, he should pick up plenty of advanced positions where he’ll be up against Bjorkan.

Jens Petter Hauge is the biggest threat in the Bodo side, and he was excellent once again in the first leg. He looked like a constant threat. He’s so creative, and was devastating on the counter-attack when they turned over Inter Milan in the play-off round.

He’s been fouled 10 times across his last six Champions League matches, and has drawn an average of 1.39 per 90 throughout the competition, but he’s been particularly special lately, so those numbers have been on the rise. 

He was impeded in last week’s meeting, too. He will be crucial for Bodo as they look to get out and get up the pitch. He’ll always be an outlet and is good at holding the ball up and buying fouls where needed to relieve some pressure.

We saw this plenty of times in the game at the San Siro, where Hauge was fouled twice.

Georgios Vagiannidis is his direct opponent; he’s averaged 1.65 fouls per 90 domestically for Sporting, and a massive 2.63 per 90 in the Champions League. He fouled twice before being subbed on 62 minutes last week.
