Tribal Chief E/W @ 11.00

TRIBAL CHIEF caught the eye with a last-gasp Goodwood handicap success when last seen. He could have been given more than a 4lb rise in the weights, and the second has subsequently bolted up next time.

Interestingly, Tribal Chief is set to confirm form at these weights but is a bigger price here. The selection has finished runner-up in both course runs, so we know he acts at this venue, and a big each-way performance is anticipated.

Theory Of Tides E/W @ 13.00

THEORY OF TIDES may be capable of giving John and Thady Gosden a third winner in the race, since 2018. The Galileo gelding won his first two starts, prior to finding Group Two company too hot at Royal Ascot last year.

He showed the benefit of a gelding operation, when improving dramatically to run fourth in a York handicap earlier this month. A subsequent second at Newbury looks solid form, having pulled well clear of the third that day. I rate him to be a big potential improver.

Mister Winston E/W @ 34.00

One who may be able to outrun his big each-way odds is MISTER WINSTON. Twice a winner in his short career, he ran a fine fourth at Goodwood last-time-out. Although running out of steam late-on, the performance needs marking up, considering he forced a strong gallop and chased a runaway leader.

If able to be harnessed appropriately, it would be folly to dismiss his claims entirely, at huge odds. He receives a handy 5lb from all four-year-old and older horses.
