Frank Lampard takes charge of Coventry for his first full season after taking over in November last year.
He will be hoping that his side can wash away the memory of their playoff final defeat against Sunderland as they face relegation candidates Hull on the opening weekend.

- Coventry v Hull
- Championship
- 12:30
Coventry took four points off of Hull last season (one win and one draw).
Coventry won 14 of their 23 home games last season, only Sheffield United (15) and Leeds (18) won more.
Haji Wright finished last season as Coventry’s top scorer in the league with 12 goals. Only one of these goals came from the penalty spot.
Coventry will be eyeing up a third top six finish in four years this season, but they'll face a tough task with the three relegated Premier League sides from last term expected to go well, as well as newcomers Birmingham and Wrexham.
Hull look set to be involved in a relegation battle this season, and face a tough away trip on the opening day.

🔵 Another Promotion Push Seems Even More Challenging
It may be even tougher for Frank Lampard to guide this Coventry side to another playoff finish, seeing as how competitive the Championship is set to be this time around.
Not only do you have the three sides coming down from the Premier League with parachute payments and stacked squads, there is now a threat coming from the lower leagues in Wrexham and Birmingham attempting to replicate Ipswich’s double promotion.
Coventry have brought in three new signings so far, which isn’t much cause for alarm as their squad was already pretty strong for this level. The signing of Carl Rushworth in goal on loan from Brighton could prove particularly valuable for Coventry. Rushworth averaged 3.11 saves per 90 and kept 10 clean sheets with a save percentage of 68.8% when he was in goal for Swansea during the 23/24 Championship campaign.
🟠 Hull Unlikely To Recreate Last Seasons Narrow Escape
It’s looking a bit worrying for Hull at the moment, they’re quoted amongst a handful of sides that could face the drop this season with the bookmakers. Sheffield Wednesday are the only side that have been split off from this pack and are very short priced to face the drop, due to multiple off the field issues.
Hull avoided the drop to League One last season on goal difference as they finished level on points with Luton, it was their slightly superior defensive record which kept them in the second division.
The most worrying sign for Hull and an area which desperately needs addressing is their home record. Hull had the worst home record in the Championship last season, winning just five of their 23 games.
📊Coventry v Hull H2H
Coventry avoided defeat in both clashes with Hull last season and came away 2-1 winners in this fixture last campaign.
Coventry have won just one of the last seven head-to-heads, but I'm expecting them to make that two from eight on Saturday.
