Man City v Crystal Palace
Kick Off: Saturday 12th April at 12:30
Competition: Premier League
Manchester City welcome a high-flying Crystal Palace side with Pep Guardiola’s men eyeing up a top-five finish, after it was confirmed during the week that fifth spot in the Premier League will be guaranteed Champions League place for next season. City have avoided defeat in their last four games, but some of these performances have been quite limp, especially their showing in the Manchester Derby last time out.
Palace are the form team in the league, Oliver Glasner’s side are unbeaten across their last eight games in all competitions, coming out on top in seven of these encounters. Palace are particularly strong at the back on the road, but will have to contest this fixture without Marc Guehi, who was sent off against Brighton in their most recent outing.
⭐ Man City v Crystal Palace Best Bet
Mateta has had 57 shots across his 29 Premier League appearances this season (2.27 per 90) - a record that has produced 13 goals for the Palace striker, making him the Eagles’ top scorer this campaign.
Mateta returned to goalscoring form following his horror injury against Millwall with a goal against Brighton in his most recent Premier League outing. He scored with his only shot of the game before being replaced around the 70th-minute mark to manage his return to fitness following his injury.
Mateta only had one shot in the initial meeting between the sides, but should be able to carve out a few chances here when looking at how effective Palace have been when going forward in recent games. Palace have had 8+ shots in each of their last five games, with this total rising to 10+ shots in three of those games. They’re averaging 13.6 shots per game in the Premier League this season.
Oliver Glasner’s side had 12 shots and held City to a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture. The Eagles enter this game in better form and with more confidence than they did the encounter at Selhurst Park. This should translate into service for Mateta, who can get a few shots off at the Etihad against what is still quite a nervy City backline.
