Liverpool miraculously came away with a 1-0 win from the Parc Des Princes in the first leg of this Champions League tie thanks to Harvey Elliott’s late winner. The Reds had to rely on a superb performance from Alisson who made nine saves to keep PSG at bay.
PSG won’t be too disheartened from their first leg performance, Luis Enrique’s men put in a respectable showing which was a big improvement on their performances at this stage of the Champions League in recent seasons.
⭐ Liverpool v PSG Best Bet
Robertson has been below his usual levels for Liverpool this season, it’s the one area of the pitch where you can pick holes in Arne Slot’s side and PSG targeted his area of the pitch in the first leg at the Parc Des Princes.
PSG’s front three is now one of the best in Europe, the January signing of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has elevated the already elite attacking line further and this was onshow in the first leg. Kvaratskhelia was fouled more times than any other player on the pitch (two) and will be Robertson’s direct opponent here.
Robertson has committed five fouls across his seven Champions League appearances this season (1.04 per 90). This average is quite an increase on his Premier League foul numbers (0.44 per 90) which suggests that he’s being more regularly challenged in the Champions League.
Kvaratskhelia has won five fouls across his three appearances in the Champions League this campaign (2.36 per 90) and has already drawn 11 fouls in Ligue 1 (2.37 per 90). Kvaratskhelia’s ability to win fouls is down to his brilliant dribbling and sharp movement, opposition full backs are often left with little option other than to bring the Georgian down with how effective he can be in 1 v 1 duels.
Robertson will also have to contend with Achraf Hakimi on his side who is very forward-thinking and has won 15 fouls across his 11 Champions League appearances this term (1.39 per 90). Robertson committed one foul in the first leg meeting between the sides and looks well placed to repeat that here.
🟢 Liverpool v PSG ABC Exclusive Boost
It’s impossible not to look at Alisson following his performance in the first leg. Whilst it’s unlikely that he’ll be forced into making nine saves here again, he’ll certainly be tested by a dangerous PSG frontline of Kvaratskhelia, Dembele and Barcola, as well as threats to come off the bench such as Ramos and Doue.
PSG are chasing the game but will be confident enough in making chances considering that they had 10 shots on target in the first leg. PSG are averaging 6.9 shots on target per game in the Champions League this season which is a record that should see Alisson tested on at least four occasions.
Liverpool were shown one card in the first leg at the Parc Des Princes but second leg ties usually produce more cautions and the Reds could have to show some of their unpleasant side in getting over the line here.
Liverpool have received 18 yellow cards across their nine games in the Champions League this season (2.0 per game). The referee for this game is Istvan Kovacs who can be card happy, he’s averaging 4.78 cards per game across his nine appointments across all competitions this season.
Liverpool have showcased time and time again this season their ability to professionally and efficiently manage games with the quality to seal off these performances through the likes of Mohamed Salah.
Arne Slot’s side are on a hot run of form which has seen them win their last four games across all competitions which has included tough assignments against Newcastle and Man City. Arne Slot’s side should be able to put in another professional performance to see off a PSG that could end up falling short in Europe again here.

🔍 Liverpool v PSG Players to Watch
🔵 Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
Kvaratskhelia was influential in the first leg at the Parc Des Princes, managing four shots on target which were all beaten away by Alisson in a Player of the Match performance by the Liverpool keeper. Kvaratskhelia caused Liverpool plenty of problems playing off the right hand side of the pitch but also drifting over to the left in this fluid PSG front three. He’s been finding the target regularly since joining the Parisian outfit, managing six shots on target across his seven appearances in Ligue 1 (1.29 per 90). Kvaratskhelia should be able to cause Liverpool similar problems to the first leg with PSG chasing the game and already showcasing some of their attacking ability.
🔵 Vitinha
Vitinha sits at the heart of PSG’s midfield and is likely to be in Liverpool’s crosshairs again here with PSG chasing the tie. Vitinha was fouled once and made more passes than any other player on the pitch (109) in the first leg, showcasing how important he is to this PSG side in acting as a platform for the talented attackers to hurt the opposition. He’s won 11 fouls across his 11 appearances in the Champions League this season (1.13 per 90), and will be up against Dominik Szoboszlai who committed a foul in the first leg and is averaging 1.61 fouls committed per 90 in the Premier League this season.
