Marc Guehi has once again been a consistent performer for Crystal Palace this season, with his ability to step into more advanced areas as a wide centre back, crucial to his strong foul won record in the Premier League this term.

Guehi has won 13 fouls across his 11 Premier League appearances this season (1.18 per 90). This record ranks him in the 92nd percentile of centre backs in the Premier League when it comes to winning fouls. Oliver Glasner likes Guehi to step out from his position on the left-hand side of the back three to help Palace create overloads in the middle of the park.

This could be particularly effective here with Manchester United already looking a bit light in midfield at times this campaign. Guehi’s main opponents are likely to be Bryan Mbeumo and Noussair Mazraoui down his side of the pitch, and then Casemiro when he steps out into more advanced areas:

Mbeumo has had a shot on target in each of his last five Premier League appearances for Manchester United, with two of those appearances seeing him have multiple shots on target. He had three shots against Everton last time out at Old Trafford, with one of those attempts finding the target.

Overall, Mbeumo has had 29 shots across his 12 appearances in the Premier League (2.50 per 90) with 15 of those finding the target (1.29 per 90). This isn’t quite at the crazy shot levels we’ve seen from Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland reach over recent seasons, but it’s the most consistent of the United frontline, which could be key here as Palace tend to be quite stubborn at the back when playing at Selhurst Park.

Manchester United are creating plenty of chances this term with their shot on target average of 5.20, only 2nd to Chelsea (5.60) in the Premier League this season. This should give Mbeumo opportunities to find the target, possibly aided by the fatigue that may affect that Palace squad following their 2-1 defeat in Strasbourg on Thursday night.

Crystal Palace are averaging 10.3 fouls committed per game in the Premier League this term with the Eagles committing 9+ fouls in nine of their 12 Premier League matches this term, totalling at 123 so far.

Manchester United have shown real promise when it comes to winning fouls this term, with 9+ fouls drawn in eight of their 12 Premier League assignments. The four games in which Manchester United didn’t manage to cross this line, all ended with their opponents on eight fouls.

Palace committed 13 fouls on their trip to Strasbourg in the Conference League during the week and could be prone to frustration here, with the systems of these sides also aiding this selection. As both sides line up in 3-4-3 shapes, there should be enough 1v1 duels to see the home side commit at least nine fouls. Daniel Munoz and Daichi Kamada, in particular, can really contribute to this foul count with promising opponents here in Patrick Dorgu and Bruno Fernandes.

Senne Lammens has largely been a solid option for Manchester United since joining the club in the summer. He came in for his first bit of criticism in a United shirt against Everton last time out with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s effort appearing to go through his right wrist.

However, Lammens has already shown more composure than his predecessor and has some promising save numbers this campaign to take into this clash. Lammens has been forced into making 14 saves across his six Premier League appearances this term (2.33 per 90) with at least two saves in four of those appearances.

The two games in which he didn’t manage to make 2+ saves were against Everton, who were reduced to 10 men early on, and Nottingham Forest - a game where he significantly underperformed his save percentage (33.3%), suggesting that it’s a bit of an anomaly in his early record for Manchester United.

Crystal Palace have drawn 2+ saves from the opposition keeper in nine of their 12 Premier League matches this season, with six of those matches seeing them draw 3+ saves. Oliver Glasner noted again during the week that he is becoming frustrated with his side not being clinical enough with the quality of chances they create - and Lammens can add to that frustration here having made an excellent start to his United career.

Ismaila Sarr always performs best when he’s got space to attack behind the opposition backline. This is why so many of his goals and assists for Palace have come against the top six, he’s able to exploit space left by sides holding high lines with Jean-Philippe Mateta being an excellent player to rely on to hold up the ball and feed through that final pass.

This has been most effective for Sarr against Liverpool this year, with strikes against the Reds in the Premier League, FA Cup and Community Shield. He should be able to benefit from attacking that space in behind here with Sarr currently on four goal contributions across his 10 starts in the Premier League (three goals, one assist).

He’s scored his goals from an xG of 3.86, so he’s been one of the better Palace players when it comes to taking his chances. He’s got the beating of Luke Shaw down his side of the pitch, and is supported by Munoz in getting forward, which can offer a real attacking threat for the home side here.

Munoz’s duel against Patrick Dorgu here could be a key one for deciding the outcome of the game. Dorgu is one of the strongest players in Europe when it comes to winning fouls, having been hauled down 23 times across his 11 appearances in the Premier League this term (2.09 per 90).

Munoz has already picked up four yellow cards for Crystal Palace this campaign across his 12 Premier League appearances. This is more than any other Crystal Palace player, and highlights how aggressive the Colombian can be with his challenges.

The two are likely to contest multiple duels as both are quite forward-thinking and like to support the attack as much as possible. This leaves space down both flanks which can lead to tactical fouls from either player to stop quick transitions.

Crystal Palace carry a real threat from set pieces and Lacroix has benefited from that since being at the club. No side scored more goals from corners than Crystal Palace last season, with Marc Guehi, Lacroix and Chris Richards combining for five goals last season from them.

Palace have been relying on set pieces again this term, with six of their 16 goals (38%) in the Premier League coming from them.

Lacroix has had five shots across his 12 Premier League appearances this term (0.42 per 90), with four of those attempts coming directly from a corner. Palace are averaging 4.00 corners per game at home this season, so there should be a few chances for Lacroix to find the target here.
