Specialist in Scandinavian & European soccer. I have been in the betting game for nearly 20 years now with a summer focus on the Norwegian & Swedish leagues. With an in-depth knowledge of the region & teams I have been involved in a specialist podcast & more for close to a decade. My favourite types of bets are attacking the goal lines and identifying the tactics & style of each team & manager who can contribute positively. Outside of betting I was once a Sunday League goalkeeper myself. But my boots are now retired and instead prefer to hit up the cricket pitch and golf course in my spare time.

There's another full slate of games on Friday in the Dutch Eerste Divisie, and our expert has crunched the numbers and has four picks for a 4/1 accumulator. A £10 bet returns £45.40.

Friday's Eerste Divisie Accumulator Tips

Fixtures for: Friday 2nd May

Excelsior v Jong PSV

18:00

Excelsior (-1) Handicap

In-form Excelsior can seal their promotion with a win, and they should achieve it with relative ease, facing a poor Jong PSV outfit. They had a wobble at the start of 2025, but seven consecutive league wins have come at just the right time. Excelsior have been very convincing recently, with five of those victories by at least a two-goal margin. They are one of the strongest teams in the division, so taking the -1 handicap makes sense. With 13 out of 18 home wins, they can be trusted in front of their own fans.

The visiting side, Jong PSV, have only won one match since the start of 2025 and in total lost 12 of their last 16 fixtures. This is a side that has conceded a lot of goals (80), which is the most in the entire league. In recent times, there has been no improvement, with 17 goals conceded in their last six games and three of their last four defeats by at least a two-goal margin. They have nothing to play for and are one of the worst teams in the division. Unless the occasion and pressure get to Excelsior, then this should be a comfortable success.

Volendam v Roda

18:00

Volendam to Win

There is going to be a party atmosphere as Volendam celebrate their title-winning success in front of their home fans for the last time this season. They have been a class apart this year with 25 wins out of 36 and possessing the best home record of anyone. They now face a Roda side who are knocked out of playoff contention and have nothing at stake. There is a generous price on Volendam to win, and if this match actually mattered in terms of promotion or winning the league, then we would get much skinnier odds.

This isn’t a bad Roda side, but they have struggled in recent weeks when they have needed the points the most. Four defeats in their last six games doesn't bode well, and their lack of goals, just four in that period, is also a concern. They haven’t won any of their last six away games and suffered defeats in five of those contests. Volendam will want to finish off their home campaign in style and celebrate.

Jong Utrecht v Dordrecht

18:00

Dordrecht to Win

Jong Utrecht have lost 22 out of 36 league games this season and are arguably the worst side in the Eerste Divisie. Their 79 goals conceded has only been toppled by Jong PSV, so the obvious port of call in their games is to oppose them in some form or take the over goals. There is nothing at stake for them at this late stage of the season, and with the worst home record of any team, it is difficult to see them matching the class of Dordrecht.

Dordrecht shockingly lost 0-2 away to FC Oss in their most recent match, which puts them out of automatic promotion contention. They are assured of a playoff place but will want to finish as high as possible and even if they do take their eye off the ball a bit here, they should still have way too much for Jong Utrecht. Their last five wins have all been to nil, so this is a team that can control games but also score goals. The pressure is actually released on them for a couple of games now, and the sheer gulf in class should result in an away win.

Maastricht v Jong Ajax

18:00

Over 2.5 Goals

There is nothing riding on this match for either team but the goals have been flowing so much in Maastricht games that the over 2.5 goal line is probably worth backing again. Maastricht have lost eight of their last 10 games and conceded 20 goals in that period. That demonstrates how poor they can be defensively, but they did beat Jong Utrecht 5-0 in their most recent home match, which can be a grain of comfort.

This is another winnable game facing a Jong Ajax side who have lost seven of their last nine games and are not finishing the season particularly well. They did beat Helmond 1-0 last week, though, which should give them some confidence. That was their first clean sheet in 14 games, so this is a defence that usually can’t be relied on to keep things tight. Lack of goals is usually a problem for Jong Ajax, but they now get to face one of the worst defences in the league. With nothing riding on the match, the shackles might come off for both teams, leading to goals.
