It has been a disappointing start to the season for relegated club Almere City, but their two wins have been convincing - 4-1 and 5-0 - when this team clicks, they have great potential. They have lost four out of six games, though, and suffered another defeat last week when they went down 1-2 at Den Hag. They conceded a huge 28 shots and an xGA of 2.07.

Almere so have the second top scorer in the division in their ranks, Byron Burgering, who has smacked in six goals in his last three games - so they hold plenty of goal threat themselves.

Almere are clear favourites to prevail here at around the 1.45 mark. They should have too much for a poor Jong Utrecht side who were one of the worst teams in the Eerste Divisie last season, and don’t look much better this year. Jong Utrecht already have the joint worst defensive record in the league (14 goals conceded) and their fixtures average 3.70 goals per game.

This is a team that know they can’t grind out 1-0 wins or 0-0 draws, and their only chance is to try and outscore their opponents. Almere could cover this line all on their own, but Jong Utrecht average nearly two goals per game themselves, so might not be kept quiet.

Five of Den Bosch's six games have gone over 2.5 goals this term, and with an average of 4.70 goals per game, their fixtures average more goals any team in the division. Den Bosch have plenty goals in them, with their 1.88 xG per 90 mins the 3rd best. However, their xGA per game of 1.86 is a terrible stat and clearly demonstrates their defensive weaknesses.

They now face a Jong AZ side who have lost five out of seven games and kept just a solitary clean sheet. Last week, they suffered a 1-3 loss to De Graafschap at home and they travel here as an underdog, with Den Bosch favourites at around the 2.25 mark.

In Kevin Monzialo and Ilias Boumassaoudi, they have the firepower to cause Jong AZ plenty of problems, but with an unreliable defence, the over 2.5 goals bet looks like an excellent option.

The home side have already been involved in a 4-1 win, a 3-4 defeat and a 3-3 draw this season, which suggests the goalscoring potential in their games is rather high. Jong Ajax rank poorly in the xGA department (1.69) and they have only kept a solitary clean sheet all season.

Ajax at least have a decent xG average per game themselves of 1.70, so certainly have the firepower to cause problems. This should bode well for backing over 2.5 goals - we could see a very high scoring game here.

VVV Venlo games have been kings over overs this season, with five out of seven fixtures going over 2.5 goals. The visitors have only kept one clean sheet all season and lost every single away game so far, by scores of 2-3, 1-3 and 1-2. Their main issues have come on the road, especially from a defensive perspective, and until that changes it’s difficult to envisage anything other than a relatively high scoring affair.

VVV rank in the top six for xG per game (1.71), so their underlying metrics are positive from an offensive point of view.
