I've found a short-odds bet builder for the La Liga Monday night action. It might be one to combine with some other fancies across the Monday slate, or you can take it on as a bet builder as we feel our way into the new Spanish season.

• Under 3.5 goals landed in 35 out of 42 games for Elche last season. 

• Under 3.5 goals landed in 27 out of 38 games for Real Betis in the previous campaign.

• Real Betis lost just two of their final 15 league matches last season, while balancing Conference League fixtures. 

Despite selling key players over the summer, Elche come in at 3.25 to secure victory on Monday night, while the visitors are priced at 2.25. Expecting a low-scoring encounter, the draw at 3.2 is a price which appeals.

⚪ Elche Return to La Liga Under Sarabia After Defensive Masterclass

Elche were relegated from the Spanish top-flight in the 22/23 season, after a disastrous campaign saw them lose 23 matches in total to finish rock bottom of the standings. In the next season, Elche finished 11th in La Liga 2, spiralling downwards rapidly with confidence in the camp at a real low point. Then Eder Sarabia, formerly the assistant manager of Quique Setien at Barcelona, stepped in to take over at the helm. He guided Elche back to the top, ensuring they finished 2nd last season to secure automatic promotion back to the top-flight. 

As with Setien, Sarabia likes his team to keep possession and dominate proceedings. Whether that will be effective in La Liga is uncertain, but Elche were statistically the strongest defensive team in the second division last season, conceding just 34 goals from 42 matches, keeping 19 clean sheets.

🟢 Pellegrini Lacking Brazilian Flair

After a disastrous 23/24 campaign at Man United in which Antony registered just five goals and assists from 38 appearances, the Brazilian was given a second chance in Spain, as Manuel Pellegrini took him under his wing, entrusting him to start on the right flank. Despite only arriving in January, Antony hit the ground running and already surpassed his tally of last season by registering three goals and three assists in his first six games in all competitions. 

He formed a formidable partnership with Isco going forward, which was a key reason for Betis being able to climb up the standings towards the end of the season. Rodrigo Riquelme has been brought in to provide some attacking impotence, but it seems unlikely he will be able to replicate the impact of either Isco or Antony, given that Riquelme registered just one league assist last season. It seems likely that Betis will struggle in the final third.

In six competitive meetings since 2020, Elche have managed to win on just one occasion, with under 3.5 goals landing in four of those. Interestingly, there have been five red cards shown across the last four meetings, suggesting a rivalry between the two sides.
