The penultimate final in the 2023/24 European football campaign sees Greek giants Olympiacos host Fiorentina in Athens on Wednesday night. It's back-to-back finals for Fiorentina having fallen at the final hurdle last year, while Olympiacos will certainly be looking to leverage the home setting.

Fiorentina represent good value to get the victory over 90 minutes in this game given their impressive recent form. Vincenzo Italiano’s side have won six of their last ten matches across all competitions. They have been masters of doing just enough in the Conference League - unbeaten in 13 in the competition since losing to Rapid Vienna in the qualifying stages. Generating 2 xG or more on a regular basis, they have generated that figure in seven of their last nine matches in Serie A and the Conference League, putting them in their best offensive form of the season. Olympiacos may have beaten both Fenerbahce and Aston Villa in the last two rounds but dramatically overperformed in those matches. Scoring nine times from just 4.2 xG – an overperformance that cannot be sustained on a long term basis.

Fiorentina are a team that are winning a high corner count at present, winning at least five corners in 14 of their last 15 matches across Serie A and the Conference League. They have won at least five corners in all but two of their Conference League matches since the play-off round in August, with the exceptions being an away match in Gent in September and a trip to Maccabi Haifa in March. Olympiacos have struggled to stop opponents from winning corners and have conceded at least six in each of their last four Conference League fixtures. Fiorentina are expected to dominate territory, which should lead to a significant corner count.

🟨 Olympiacos to receive most cards

Olympiacos have only played eight Conference League matches this season but have picked up 19 cards.. The Italian side have a talent for drawing their opponents into card trouble. Their rivals have picked up 46 cards in their games – more than twice as many as the Viola have accrued themselves. Fiorentina have picked up fewer cards than their opponents in all of their six knockout games in the competition this term. Olympiacos have received more cards than their opponents in the Conference League this season. This is a trend that holds up in all competitions for Jose Luis Mendilibar’s side. Fiorentina’s opponents have seen 30 more cards than them in total this season.
