  • Hearts have lost each of their last three Scottish Premiership away matches.

  • Livingston have won just one of their 31 Scottish Premiership matches this season.

  • Both teams have scored in a league-high 21 of Livingston's 31 Scottish Premiership matches this season.

Both Teams to Score @ 1.80

While Livingston are anchored at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table, they tend to get on the scoresheet more often than not when playing at home. In fact, the Lions have struck in 13 of their 15 top-flight fixtures in front of their own supporters this term. That can be attributed to the fact that 21 of Livingston’s 31 Scottish Premiership matches this season have seen both teams find the net, including 13 of their 15 home outings.

Notably, one of those matches came against Hearts at this venue earlier in the campaign, with Livingston falling to a 2-1 defeat on that occasion. It is also worth noting that both teams have scored in Livingston’s home meetings with Rangers (twice) and when they hosted Celtic earlier in the season.

Although a strong defensive base has been key to Hearts’ push towards the title, they have looked somewhat vulnerable at the back when playing away from home for a number of months now. The capital club have failed to keep a clean sheet in four of their last six top-flight road trips, conceding 3+ goals in two of those contests.

Over 10.5 Corners @ 1.95

Given how I expect this contest to play out tactically, I’m happy to back over 10.5 corners. While Livingston are rooted to the foot of the table, they rarely get blown away by their opponents, and that stubbornness often sees them concede plenty of corners. In fact, Marvin Bartley’s side are conceding a league-high 5.97 corners per game in the Scottish top flight this term, with their matches averaging 10.39 per game.

Hearts, as you’d expect, rank among the top teams for corners this season, averaging 5.52 per game, with their fixtures yielding 10.00 per 90. Derek McInnes’ men managed nine corners themselves when they visited Livingston earlier in the campaign - there was a total of 14 corners on that occasion.

Livingston like to make use of set-pieces and their long-throw weapon, so I’d expect them to contribute to the corner count here. The Lions racked up five corners when hosting Hearts earlier this season, so I think there is plenty of scope for the pair to deliver over 10.5 corners between them this weekend.

Cameron Devlin - Over 0.5 Shots @ 1.44

Cameron Devlin made a welcome return from injury in Hearts’ win over Dundee last time out, and I’m keen to back the Hearts midfielder to register at least one shot against Livingston on Sunday.

The all-action Australian is best known for his tenacity in the middle of the park, but he’s more than willing to try his luck going forward. That’s reflected in his average of 0.79 shots per game in the Scottish Premiership this season. Prior to his recent spell on the sidelines, that number had been on the rise - the 27-year-old racked up five shots across his last five appearances before injury struck.

As mentioned, Devlin returned against Dundee last time out, and he delivered one shot in that match. With Livingston capable of being stubborn opponents, this could be a game where Hearts need to stay patient, which could force them into efforts from range - an area where Devlin is a natural candidate given his role patrolling the midfield.

The fact that rock-bottom Livingston are conceding an average that is north of 15 shots per game in the Scottish Premiership this season only strengthens the case for siding with this selection.

Robbie Muirhead - Over 1.5 Shots @ 1.57

Robbie Muirhead looks well worth backing to attempt two or more shots against Hearts on Sunday. The Livingston forward has been a serial shot-hitter in the Scottish Premiership this season, averaging 2.81 efforts per game. A closer look shows that Muirhead has pulled the trigger at least twice in six of his last seven top-flight outings, which includes an away day at Celtic.

When Muirhead faced Hearts in West Lothian earlier in the campaign, he posted two shots during that contest. The 30-year-old has been on spot-kick duty at times this season and, as a free-kick specialist, can produce moments of magic from distance - two factors that strengthens the case for this selection

With Livingston’s top-flight status hanging by a thread, any hope of an unlikely great escape will require them to push for the win here. That only adds weight to backing Muirhead to register a minimum of two shots on Sunday.

📈 Livingston v Hearts Form & Stats

It now looks a matter of when, rather than if, Livingston’s relegation to the Scottish Championship is confirmed. It has been a miserable campaign for the Lions on their return to the top-flight, with a 2-0 defeat away to Kilmarnock before the international break leaving them 12 points adrift of automatic safety.

Livingston have taken just 15 points from 31 Scottish Premiership matches and have managed only one win, with that solitary success coming against Falkirk last August. Given the nature of their season, it is no surprise that Livingston have the worst defensive record in the division, conceding 61 goals so far.

Discipline has also been an issue, with Livingston receiving three red cards across their last nine top-flight matches, while they are collecting an average of just under 2.50 yellow cards per game.

After slumping to a 1-0 defeat away to Kilmarnock in their previous Scottish Premiership away game, Hearts responded by grinding out a narrow 1-0 win over Dundee a fortnight ago. That result, coupled with outcomes elsewhere, saw Derek McInnes’ men head into the international break with a three point lead over Rangers and a five point cushion over Celtic.

If Hearts are to secure a historic Scottish Premiership title triumph in the coming weeks, they will need to improve their recent away form. The capital club have lost four of their last six league matches on the road, including each of the last three.

Six of Hearts’ last 11 Scottish Premiership matches have featured a red card, with the Jam Tarts reduced to 10 men in four of those games, including their 1-0 win over Dundee a fortnight ago. Hearts have scored a joint league-high 24 goals away from home this season, netting multiple times in 10 of their 15 road trips.

📔Livingston v Hearts Formation & Team News

Since his internal promotion to Livingston manager at the start of February, Marvin Bartley has primarily deployed a 3-5-2 formation. With Brooklyn Kabongolo suspended, the Livingston boss will have to make at least one change to his starting side on Sunday.

Aidan Denholm and Connor McLennan both remain out of action through injury, while Macaulay Tait is ineligible to feature against his parent club. In more positive news, Joshua Zimmerman and Samson Lawal could return to the squad after their recent spells on the sidelines.

Hearts have tended to line up in either a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-4-2 under Derek McInnes this season, with the latter used in their latest league outing against Dundee.

Hearts’ injury issues are beginning to ease slightly, with both Cameron Devlin and Lawrence Shankland making welcome returns against Dundee last time out. Craig Halkett and Tomas Magnusson are also expected to be back in the Jambos squad this weekend.

However, Ageu, Calem Nieuwenhof, Craig Gordon, Finlay Pollock, Stephen Kingsley and Stuart Findlay are all expected to remain absent. Frankie Kent will also miss Sunday’s clash through suspension after being sent off against Dundee last time out.
