When not crunching the numbers and analysing the stats, Grant can often be found following his beloved Falkirk up and down the country.

Two teams at opposite ends of the Europa League standings will face off on Thursday evening, as Ferencvaros face Rangers at the Groupama Arena.

The hosts are 6th in the standings with a quietly impressive return of 11 points from their first five league phase assignments.

In contrast, Rangers have only managed to put one point on the board across the opening five matchdays.

This means Rangers now face a herculean task of trying to revive their Europa League campaign across their final three fixtures.

📈 Ferencvaros v Rangers Form & Stats

Ferencvaros, led by former Tottenham striker Robbie Keane, are one of only four teams that are yet to lose a game in this season’s Europa League. The Hungarian giants have taken maximum points from their matches with Genk, RB Salzburg and Ludogorets, while it was honours even in their respective clashes with Viktoria Plzen and Fenerbahce.

Both teams have scored in four of Ferencvaros’ five league phase fixtures, with two of those contests featuring over 3.5 goals.

Only Sturm Graz (90) and Feyenoord (82) have committed more fouls than Ferencvaros (80) across the first five matchdays of league-phase action. The Budapest-based club have picked up 16 yellow cards and one red card in this season’s Europa League.

The hosts are currently leading the way in the Hungarian top-flight, with Sunday’s 3-0 success against Kisvarda their third league win in succession.

Rangers squandered a golden opportunity to claim their first Europa League win of the season when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Braga at Ibrox. The Portuguese side came from behind to claim a point despite playing the last half an hour with 10. One crumb of comfort for Rangers was that the stalemate at least snapped a four-game losing run in the Europa League, lifting them off the foot of the table in the process.

Rangers have received a red card in two of their five Europa League assignments this season.

After being held to draws by both Falkirk and Dundee United, Rangers returned to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership by claiming a 3-0 win away at Kilmarnock last Saturday. The victory leaves the Light Blues nine points adrift of Hearts, though they have played one game fewer than the league leaders.

📔 Ferencvaros v Rangers Formation & Team News

Under Robbie Keane, Ferencvaros typically line up in either a 3-4-2-1 or a 3-5-2 system.

Alex Toth, Krisztian Lisztes and Stefan Gartenmann are all doubtful, while Denes Dibusz and Habib Maiga will definitely miss out for the hosts.

Danny Rohl appears to have settled on a 4-2-3-1 formation, though a heavy injury list may be restricting him from making use of the back three that he often favoured during the early weeks of his tenure.

The Gers boss will be forced to make at least two changes from the team that defeated Kilmarnock on Saturday, as Mohamed Diomande will serve a suspension, while Nedim Bajrami was forced off with a hamstring injury.

On top of that, Bailey Rice, Derek Cornelius, John Souttar, Kieran Dowell, Oliver Antman and Rabbi Matondo are all ruled out through injury.
