Crystal Palace travel to Craven Cottage with recent positive memories of West London, having beaten Fulham twice away from home last season - one of these victories was on their path to lifting the FA Cup.

Fulham have picked up 13 of their 17 points at Craven Cottage this season, so they are becoming very reliant on their home form, which may be worth keeping an eye on in the coming weeks.

📈 Fulham v Crystal Palace Form & Tactics

Fulham are usually a bang on mid-table side, but find themselves sitting 15th in the Premier League - just five points clear of the drop zone. They find themselves in this situation due to their away record, which is relegation form, as Fulham have won just one of their seven matches on the road - losing five of these fixtures.

They have been much stronger at Craven Cottage, with four wins from their seven matches in West London. The difference between Fulham’s attacking output is also night and day when looking at their home and away record. 13 of the 19 goals they’ve scored in the Premier League have come at home (68%).

Crystal Palace have been one of the most effective away sides all calendar year, and have started this season with a superb record - losing just two of their seven away matches and conceding the fewest goals of any Premier League side on the road (4).

Palace’s latest away victory came during the week against Burnley, which was a very awkward and tedious game, which Palace managed to edge despite only having an xG of 0.59 and three shots on target.

I do feel like Oliver Glasner is squeezing the absolute maximum out of this set of players, and has been let down by Palace being a bit passive in their recruitment in the summer - particularly as the Eagles are competing in the Conference League this season, so they could do with the additional depth.

📔 Fulham v Crystal Palace Formation & Team News

Fulham will line up in a 4-2-3-1 here, I feel like they've stayed at a similar performance level and approach to last season, which is always a bit of a risk when the sides around you are constantly investing and improving. Marco Silva is a solid coach, but he can’t work miracles and has had to promote players like Josh King to account for a lack of proper recruitment in recent windows.

I always like the look of Alex Iwobi when I watch Fulham play, he’s matured into a solid Premier League player and can fill in a variety of roles for the Cottagers, having played as a 6, 10 and on the wing this season. He should be on the left hand side here, but could come centrally to make room for either Chukwueze or Kevin, who are two of the more exciting players that Fulham have brought in.

Fulham remain without Rodrigo Muniz and Antonee Robinson, who are not expected to be back for a few more weeks. These are notable absentees for Marco Silva, with Muniz netting 11 goals last season, and Robinson providing 10 assists.

Crystal Palace will line up in a 3-4-3 here which, surprisingly, isn’t Oliver Glasner’s preferred shape or system. He’s confirmed in a few interviews now, that he picks the system based on the players he has available, which is the sign of a manager that could go right to the top as he has a willingness to adapt.

Palace are one of the best defensive sides in the Premier League, with Arsenal clearly taking the top spot for that ranking. I’d extend this compliment to all of Europe, very few sides can put together a mid block as effectively as this Palace side, with the Eagles conceding the fewest goals on the road in the Premier League this season (4).

Ismaila Sarr is a doubt for this clash which is a blow for Glasner, as Palace are already short on options in the final third.

📊 Fulham v Crystal Palace Key Stats

  • Palace have conceded the fewest goals of any side on the road in the Premier League this season (4).

  • Fulham have collected 13 of their 17 points in the Premier League at Craven Cottage this season.

  • Palace are underperforming their xG by five goals in the Premier League this term.

  • Three of Fulham’s five wins in the Premier League this season have come in their last five matches.
