LOSSIEMOUTH announced herself as a classy filly when sauntering clear by four lengths on stable debut at Fairyhouse, beating a previous winner. She was always held in high regard after a hugely impressive first success at Auteuil prior to joining Willie Mullins and looks set to follow up, despite the rise in grade.
A small field for this Grade One novice chase prize, where MCFABULOUS can give trainer Paul Nicholls a record sixth victory in the race. A winner in two from three over fences, McFabulous jumped well with an impressive success at Newbury last month, ahead of the reopposing Thyme Hill. He’s unbeaten at this track and should have too many gears for his rivals.
The prestigious Rowland Meyrick handicap chase is competitive, with Shan Blue a worthy favourite for those who like horses at the front of the market. One who could be a solid each-way contender is FANION D’ESTRUVAL, expected to come forward from a pleasing late effort in stronger company on reappearance.
In what appears a sub-standard King George VI Chase on paper, this is a fascinating and competitive event, with plenty of speed on display. ENVOI ALLEN may benefit from a pace collapse, with Frodon and Ahoy Senor expected to set a quick tempo. He has also excelled on sharp, right-handed courses. Envoi Allen looked back to his brilliant best at Down Royal over three miles and has strong claims if able to replicate.
KARL PHILIPPE is a chaser on the up, winning three of his last four starts over fences, including a comfortable course and distance success last month. He beat a facile subsequent scorer, Zanza, who destroyed his rivals at Newbury, therefore a 6lb rise may not stop our selection.
One of the most progressive chasers this term, FINAL ORDERS, is taken to extend his winning sequence. The Gavin Cromwell-trained six-year-old ran out a determined winner over a longer trip at Down Royal, jumping with accuracy. A 9lb rise could underestimate him in a winnable event.
WHATSUPWITHYOU is leniently handicapped, having won from this mark on penultimate outing at Uttoxeter. He was a solid fifth in this race last season from a 17lb higher rating and could be involved at the business end, with Beau Morgan claiming a valuable 7lb.
