The Nerazzurri were able to capitalise on AC Milan, Napoli and Roma all dropping points in their previous league games, meaning Cristian Chivu’s men currently occupy top spot in Serie A. While the margin is slender and there is still plenty of time to go, Inter Milan will be full of confidence and hopeful that they can secure another positive result in Bergamo. 

They will fancy their chances of doing so, based on how they have fared against Atalanta in recent seasons. Despite these two being separated by just one league position last season, Inter Milan had the upper hand in head-to-head encounters, completing a league double over Atalanta. 

The Nerazzurri also eliminated Atalanta en route to the Italian Super Cup final - the Bergamo side failed to score in all three of those encounters, while shipping a total of eight goals.

Those results mean Inter Milan have won each of their last eight consecutive games against Atalanta, completely dominating this matchup over the years. Despite those results, it hasn’t always been one-way traffic for the Nerazzurri. Atalanta racked up 16 shots when these sides last met at the New Balance Arena - although that only translated to two corners, La Dea were able to fashion some good chances, and regularly break into the final third. 

Plenty has changed for both sides since last season, with new managers now at the helm, and these two rank 1st and 2nd for total corners accumulated in the Italian top-flight so far. Inter Milan currently hold top spot with a total of 108 corners from their 15 matches - averaging 6.88 corners per game. Meanwhile, Atalanta aren’t too far behind with their average of 5.88 corners per game.

They racked up 10 corners in their last match against Genoa, although they were helped by an early red card to opposition goalkeeper Nicola Leali. 6ft 4in Gianluca Scamacca couldn’t get his head on any of those set pieces to register a shot, but he did still manage to clear this line with three attempts at goal. The former West Ham man seems to have regained full fitness since returning from a long absence, and has completed the full 90 in his last two matches. 

Scamacca is averaging 4.67 shots per 90 across all competitions this season, and has landed this bet in eight of his last nine appearances. While this matchup against Inter Milan promises to be a tough one, Scamacca did register five shots against Chelsea in the Champions League, even managing to get on the scoresheet in that one. He certainly has the ability to cause problems against the elite sides and will be the focal point for Atalanta on Sunday night.

Charles De Ketelaere is another Atalanta player who has been in impressive form and will hope to provide for Gianluca Scamacca. The Belgium international has drawn more fouls than any other player in the Atalanta squad this season, averaging 2.06 fouls drawn per 90. That figure rises steeply to 2.94 fouls drawn per 90 at the New Balance Arena, highlighting how he sees a lot more of the ball on home turf and plays with additional confidence. 

De Ketelaere has landed this selection in each of his last six starts at home, including five fouls drawn against Chelsea and three fouls drawn against AC Milan. Inter Milan are a side who like to press intensely to sustain possession, and the Nerazzurri racked up 20 fouls in their last Serie A outing against Genoa. De Ketelaere draws a solid matchup here to improve on his already-impressive numbers.
