3 Selections @ 2.62

Celtic to Win @ 1.27

While Kilmarnock have proven to be no pushovers this season, it would be fair to say that this will be their toughest test to date. What’s more, Stuart Kettlewell’s side have failed to defeat both Dundee and Livingston at home this season, which doesn't augur well ahead of a visit from Celtic.

Yes, Celtic have yet to hit top gear this term, but they have shown that they have a knack for getting the job done on the domestic front, winning four of their five matches across all competitions so far. That can be attributed to the Bhoys’ backline posting four consecutive clean sheets in this season’s Scottish Premiership. I suspect that another strong defensive showing will be enough to ensure that Celtic record another solid if unspectacular success at Rugby Park on Sunday afternoon.

Over 1.5 Kilmarnock Cards @ 1.35

I think a minimum of two Kilmarnock cards should be well within range at Rugby Park on Sunday. While it is still early in the season, Kilmarnock are among the most ill-disciplined teams in the top-flight at this juncture, averaging 3.25 team cards per game.

A deeper dig shows that Killie have collected a minimum of two cards in each of their four top-flight tussles this term, including five yellows away at Motherwell last time out. What’s more, Stuart Kettlewell’s side are one of only three teams to have received a red card across the opening stretch of the campaign.

Celtic are very adept at drawing fouls and cards from their opponents, evidenced by the fact that both Aberdeen and Rangers received multiple bookings when hosting Brendan Rodgers’ side earlier this season.

Celtic to Score in Both Halves @ 1.81

We can bolster the odds on offer for a Celtic win by backing them to score in each half of the game. That is something Brendan Rodgers’ side managed to do when defeating Aberdeen in their first Scottish Premiership away game of the season last month.

While Kilmarnock have made a steady start to the season, their defence has looked shaky at times. In fact, Stuart Kettlewell’s team have conceded two goals in three of their opening four league games of the season. Moreover, Kilie’s backline was breached in both halves during their last league game against Motherwell, which suggests they could be undone either side of the half-time break again when the champions come to town.

  • Kilmarnock have avoided defeat in each of their four Scottish Premiership matches this season, with each of those four contests ending in a draw.

  • Kilmarnock have averaged 3.25 cards per game in this season’s Scottish Premiership.

  • Celtic have yet to concede a goal in this season’s Scottish Premiership.

  • There have been under 2.5 goals in three of Celtic’s four Scottish Premiership matches this season.

Kilmarnock will welcome Celtic to Rugby Park in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon

Celtic are firm 1.26 favourites with Kilmarnock huge outsiders at 11.5, while the draw is also considered unlikely at 6.0.

🔵 Killie a Tough Nut to Crack

Kilmarnock have yet to taste defeat in this season’s Scottish Premiership. Stuart Kettlewell’s side have drawn each of their opening four league matches of the season, with three of those contests ending 2-2. Killie have also reached the quarter-final stage of the Scottish League Cup, topping their group before defeating Dundee United in the round of 16.

Kilmarnock lost the corner count 9-0 during their 2-2 draw with Motherwell a fortnight ago.

During his time at Motherwell, Kettlewell tended to set up with a 3-4-2-1 or 3-5-2 formation, and he has continued to do so during the early months of his tenure as Kilmarnock manager.

🟢 Bhoys Looking to Get Back on Track

Celtic signed off for the international break sitting at the top of the Scottish Premiership table. Brendan Rodgers’ side started their title defence with three straight victories before playing out a goalless draw with Rangers at Ibrox last time out. Neither side managed to produce any genuine moments of quality during the first Old Firm derby of the season, with Celtic registering an xG of 0.19 to Rangers’ 0.15.

While Celtic have made a strong start to their domestic campaign, the club’s hierarchy have come under scrutiny from their supporters for their shock Champions League exit to Kairat Almaty as well as a lack of transfer activity.

Expect to see Brendan Rodgers stick with his tried and trusted 4-3-3 formation at Rugby Park on Sunday afternoon.

📊 Kilmarnock v Celtic H2H

Celtic have dominated this fixture in recent times, claiming top honours from each of the last five encounters between the two teams across all competitions.

The Hoops have also scored goals by the bucketload against Killie over the last couple of seasons, racking up a combined total of 16 strikes across the last four Scottish Premiership meetings between the pair. It’s also worth noting that Celtic have collected three points alongside a clean sheet on each of their previous two visits to Rugby Park.
